My wedding will consist of all of my relatives flying in from another state. I want to invite all my immediate relatives, aunts, uncles, and first cousins. Many of my first cousins are children under 10 years old. That is fine with me since they are my close family members. Is it okay though to invite those children but not to invite children that belong to friends of ours that live in town? Or should I just invite all children? If I did, that would be like 20 kids at my wedding? Is that inappropriate?

Most people say put "tissue paper" in the wedding invitation. What kind of tissue paper are we talking about here? Would a Kleenex be considered "too informal"?

My fiance's brother's wife has been very difficult throughout our whole wedding planning process. She expected to be asked to be in the wedding, and when she wasn't, told us we were rude, and has been at odds with the whole grooms family, specifically the mother of the groom and her husband. She's constantly trying to somehow make things about her, and is acting very spoiled. She has informed us that she will not be coming to the wedding because she doesnt feel "wanted". We of course sent an invitation to my fiance's brother AND her, and have no plans of excluding her in anyway. We have reiterated we would like her to be at the wedding, as have the parents. Should my fiance's brother skip the wedding out of respect for his wife? Or should he take a stand and tell her she is expected to be there and put her feelings aside? Or should he go to the wedding without her? (its 3000 miles away)

Is it required to have both an outer and inner envelope? We're having a tough time finding an envelope that goes around our inner envelope without being one of those huge envelopes.

I really can’t afford a huge wedding, and I was wondering if I were to invite my friends and not include guest on the invite; would this be OK.

For example; “Ms Jane Smith” not “Ms. Jane Smith and Guest.”

Do u think they will know that the invite is only for them and not for a guest? Is this rude? Or can it even be done….they might still bring someone…

Thanks for ur input.

My fiance, Melvin, says I should let them come anyway, but, I , well, we have registered at Macy's, and any fool would know to get something from the list. I just can't bear to think of the disgrace it would be to let someone so petty attend our nuptiuals. I am thinking of hiring security agents to keep those not bearing gifts away.
Oh, I love the thought of getting married, it has been a long journey, since I was a little girl in Great Neck, Long Island, and it took soooooo long, you wouldn't believe, how long it took to finally get a Doctor to ask me to marry him.
Now, I want china. Fine china, not some sandwich maker from wal-mart. Do you feel me, because I just can't deal with the idea of these tramps coming and eating the smoked salmon, and not bringing at the very least some nice crystal pieces.

My fiance's brother and his wife live 3000 miles away and I've only met her twice. I am not particularly close with her, and have already asked my 4 sisters, my daughter and my best friend. My fiance has no qualms with his sister in law not being in the wedding, but his brother and his wife have informed us that it is bad ettiquette and rude not to have asked her to be in the wedding.

My guy and I are talking about getting married in Feb/March and need some cheap honeymoon ideas. We are looking at it more as a mini-honeymoon because we have limited time. He is going into the highway patrol academy right after that. So we will probably go on a "real" one after he graduates, which would be a year later. So any ideas for something that can last a few days and still be fun?!

They are our neighbors and our friends. It's the second marriage for both so they aren't going to register anywhere. I figured on cash for the actual wedding, but what's a nice "Congrats on your engagement" present?

We are already receiving wedding gifts. Our wedding is next month. We pre-ordered our thank you cards with our invitations, so they say Mr. & Mrs..........on them. Should we wait until after the wedding to start sending out thank you cards?

Neither my fiance's family or my family are that in to dancing, so I don't want to have a dj and a big dance if no one is going to dance. What are some alternatives to dancing after dinner that will keep everyone around for a while?

Hello everyone. Please share your kind thoughts. I have a Wedding in December 4 days before Christmas and my Wedding theme represent Christmas however, I would like just a few items to decorate my wedding for Christmas and not to have my Wedding day an over killed so that my quests doesn't think they are at a Christmas Party not my Wedding.

Should I be light on Christmas items for my wedding and not overkill the theme?

Here is a little bit of information about our personal situation so that you can hopefully help me generate some ideas:

My fiance and I have known eachother since we were born (literally) and have been dating for 6 years.

We had to overcome a lot of obstacles to be together once and for all and we're so happy that our wedding day is finally near.

Any suggestions of a song that conveys that message; that we were "meant to be", that it was always him for me and vice versa and that we're extremely hapy to finally be together forever?

Thank you so much for the suggestions, I greatly appreciate it!

Mine are due in October 1st and we only have like 25% of them in!!! I feel like I am going to have to call the whole guest list if people don't get them in soon. I ask a few people and they said they were delaying because they didn't know if their boyfriend or spouse could get off of work or if they had to go away... ect... but don't people understand you have to have a head count to tell the cater!?
Anyone else have any issue with this?
Maybe I'll get lucky and a huge batch of them will come on Oct 2 and 3rd! LOL

Let us say you are going to marry a girl who is earning three times more than you. It is an arranged marriage, your parents are ready for it, the girls parents are ready for it too. Both you and your would be wife are equally well educated. Its just that you finished your education from a less reputed institute and she did it from an elite one and so comes the difference in salaries. Now it is generally accepted in society (with reference to India) that man should earn more or at least equal to what his wife does. So if I am the guy who is supposed to say yes to such a proposal, should I do so? Assume the girl has no issues with this, but will I have my respect after this marriage or will I get a complex? This is an otherwise good proposal, the difference in salary is the only problem. What do you think people? Will I be happy with such a girl?

I am from Italy and my girlfriend is american. We've been dating for 3 months and she asked me an expensive engagement ring(around 3500 dollars). In Italy people tell me that it is crazy...do you think this is acceptable in the american culture?
P.S.: She is not giving me an engagement present back because she is short of money....

A lot of people hire someone to do everything for their wedding - flowers, centerpieces, etc. Or they buy them ready made from a store. But it seems more and more people are making things themselves.

What have you made for your wedding?

I am getting married. A friend of mine (I'm not exactly that close with) thinks she is going to come out in my wedding. The problem is the girls I have coming out and myself are thin. My friend is obese that her dr even suggested a gastric bypass which she rejected. How do I not have her come out in my wedding without hurting her feelings. I just don't feel like she's the right fit for my wedding.

I am thinking of video taping friends and family about us, and our upcoming nuptials. Also getting people to write letters about us or a little story of some sort that my fiancee or I or a "narrator" can read on the DVD. Maybe the slide show of us growing up and all that. In and around ten-15 minutes.

-Good Idea or Tacky?
-If we do it, should we show it during the reception, or make it a favour so people don't have to watch it if they don't want to?

I think that it would be rude for her to choose the same color blue that I had or the green and purple that our other sister in law had. She does not think so. She has money and we didnt when we got money so her having the exact same color dresses only better would be like a "see I am better than you" deal for me. Just wondering if there was any etiquette on that.
