I'm a tuxedo consultant, and this issue comes up alot. What about making them Ushers? they help seat people. Generally the rule is 1 usher to every 50 guests. if you dont have that many guests, oh well! it's your wedding and the rules are bendable! this way, they can be in photos and still feel part of the wedding, even if they're not walking with bridesmaids

With an off balance of one at a wedding this past weekend the extra read a poem that was meaningful.
Could some be ushers and seat the quests and direct them moving out of pews at end of service (The seating of the mothers can be considered important and an honor), and others be the grooms men and stay with groom and escort the girls.

You can have them as ushers. They would help seat people and hand out programs before the wedding.
Or you can have them as groomsmen. Many people have an uneven number groomsmen/bridesmaids. But it's ok if you don't want it uneven as well.

I ran into the same problem - This was our solution and it worked perfectly!

My situation: 5 bridesmaids / 10 groomsmen
My solution: 2 guys for every girl!

Trust me, it was the epitome of chivalry and looked very nice walking down the aisle. To avoid having 10 guys and 5 girls standing at the alter - which would look very awkward - we only had my 2 matron's of honor, and his 2 best men standing with us. The others were seated in the front row with our family members. You can limit this to brothers / sisters or however it works best for you.

Hope this helps!

I've seen one wedding that was uneven like that. They had two guys walk down with one girl

Let these four guys do the seating and lighting of the candles. while your other guys do the regular best man stuff. They can also dismiss the seats as the wedding is completed.

Scripture readers, soloists, pianist/organist, shuttle service, bartender, ushers (do not have to be groomsmen), escorts to Mothers, carry the train of the wedding dress...

Include them as groomsmen. They could walk down the aisle together, there is no necessity to be even. or 4 of the bridesmaids could walk down the aisle with two men.

Ushers, reception hosts, they can take care of some of the tables at the reception too, like the gift table.
