I´m an American, my husband is German, and we now live in Germany.

We married in Las Vegas-it was just so easy to do it there, and Vegas is really fun too. We took the Deuce bus downtown-we asked the driver for the closest stop to the court house-don´t do it at night it´s too scary-and went to the court house on a Tuesday. We were in and out of the place in 10 minutes with our marriage license. He just needed his passport, and I had my driver´s license from Illinois.

On Friday night, we married at Little Chapel of the Flowers-the staff there is SUPER! If you want to see a wedding there on the internet, go to www.littlechapel.com and click on guests.

Since you are not a citizen you need to find out what the requirements are in both you city and in Las Vegas in order to make an appropriate decision.

For Vegas per this web site, http://www.vegaswed.com/faq.html

you need a valid drivers license or passport and $50, you must get your marriage license from the marriage bureau at the court house in downtown Las Vegas.

I'm not sure about Texas, I would assume you need to go to the courthouse and apply for a marriage license, there may be a waiting period. In Vegas there is no waiting period.

R B is inncorrect in part of her answer for what you need to get a Texas marriage license.

You go to your local courthouse and tell them you want a marriage license, both of you need to be there. They will ask you a few questions.

They are good for 30 days and are not valid for 72 hours. You can pay for them however you want (i paid with a credit card), you also need a photo ID of some sort. SS card is not enough they want a picture ID. The ones in my county were 41 dollars. Must be 18 years or older to get one without parental consent.

Hope this helps

If you want to get married in Texas, you need to get a license at the county court house. You must be 18 without parental consent. The license has to be obtained at least 72 hours before the ceremony, and is good for 90 days. The fee must be paid in cash. YOu must have a valid id such as a driver's license, ID card issued by DPS, valid passport, resident alien card, or other government issued identification.

I'm from Texas, and a friend of mine just got married in Las Vegas in March. She said she just basically had a planned ceremony there, for pretty cheap (you can get a lot of package deals there wherever you go), and she did her reception locally.

Depends on your budget and what you want to do. A vegas wedding is easy and cheaper and you've got a honeymoon spot right there at the same time.
