This ring is 15000 i think its silly but i dont want him get something he cant afford. I love him and will take whatever he gets me but his mind is made up. So i have been thinking what if i ask him to marry me and eliminate the ring situation completely. I have talked to him about the ring but he is very stubborn. IS it odd to ask him to marry me

If he wants to give you a 15k ring, accept it. It's a guy thing. If you want to express your willingness to marry him, that's fine also.

If he's a real modern thinking kind of guy then you may not shred his man card by doing something like that, but in all honestly I think though most guys would initially feel a bit weirded out by that. Flattered that you went to the trouble of thinking up a proposal and whatever else you do to go along with it... Truly, only you can know whether or not it will be odd for your relationship.
If you're worried about not being able to afford the ring then just agree to do simple wedding bands. All you need is the symbol of forever not the expensive diamonds. It's the circle that never ends, not the bling.

You can ask him. But maybe you could pick out a new ring thats less expensive and tell him how much you love it. Just a thought. If you ask him I dont think a ring is necessary. Men aren't as interested in that. I would ask him and then you could select a ring together (for you).

No. It's not odd, but a man can find it belittling. I sort of asked my husband to marry me. See I told him I was ready and asked several times If he would marry me, but the stubborn *** he is would just turn it into a joke. So I didn't give up, I just kept playing along pretending it was a game, untill one day he went to my boss and asked if we could take a long lunch. When we looked at him he said "oh we need to go and apply for a marriage licence" That was his proposal, and we were married 3 days later, but as the record shows he did it. So take my word don't push him into anything, but don't give up, be suttle. Oh and btw i bought our wedding rings, and his mother just gave me an ingagement ring last month, we've been married almost a year.

Wow, people surely read that wrong?!!
She said can she ask him to marry her so he DOESN'T spend 15,000 on a ring. She said she would have him WITHOUT the ring. Gee people, read the question properly before you start bagging people out.
Sure you can ask him, i asked my fiance but he still got me a ring. Why not tell him what kind of ring you want? Something small and simple? Go with him to choose?

excuse me but this is a really weird question. you want to ask him so he does not get you a fancy ring. hmmmmm.
a very wise woman once told me this ' never ever put down a gift a man gives you. never. you will crush him and make him feel bad. it is his place as a man to give you this, and it is your place as a woman to accept it graciously.' i am passing along this priceless bit of info cause i am waiting for a guy to come to the door and came upon your question while bored. dont be a complete fool. be a woman and do the above, or, all bets from here are off.

Honestly, he will probably get it for you anyways... Which isn't a smart move, especially if you are getting married and you could use that money on other things...
