Hi!

My wedding is about 7 months away, and I still need a dress. We just bought a house so I'm pretty much broke, but need a dress! I can spend UP TO $300. I don't care if the dress has been worn, as long as it is in excellent condition.

I am looking for something like this:

-ivory
-mid calf length (called Tea-length I believe)
-NO beading
-cap sleeves or sleeveless NO strapless
-very simple design, maybe with a sash or ribbon under bust or around the waist
-I'd like a design that will hide the fact I just had a baby! Maybe something empire waist?

If you have any links I can check out for a dress, please let me know! I want to buy online, and I live in Canada.

THANK YOU!

Has anyone found any cute flat heeled shoes? I will wear high heels for photos, but for my actuall ceremony I need unconventional shoes because of the terrain. It is a pine needle strewn field with me entering from a stightly steep hill. I would rather not resort to full tennis shoes (unless I could find cute ones), but am having little luck finding anything else that will help me hold my footing and not biff it down the hill.

I'm stumped as to what to get for my five bridesmaids. I don't want to get them something like gift cards, they too feel impersonal to me (my groom doesn't know what to get for his groomsmen, either, so any ideas for gifts for them would be great, too!) Thanks!

Hi

My fiance and I are having a small wedding for close family and close friends. His mother has decided she wants to invite her brother-in-law (her deceased sister's husband) and her niece and nephew. I've never met them and my fiance doesn't know them very well: he hasn't seen them for a year. The BIL now has a new partner. The nephew and niece have partners too.

Given, we are NOT inviting a lot of OUR own close friends, how do we avoid inviting the girlfriends/boyfriends of these not very close relatives.

Thanks.

Seems only fair given that I paid for my first wedding and didn't get a refund when it didn't work out, even though it wasn't my fault.

I'm 17 and my mom is trying to make me be a bridesmaid at my brother's wedding but I don't want to. I mean I don't like the woman he's marrying and I know the feeling is mutual. The only reason I'm being asked to be a bridesmaid is because she doesn't have that many friends. THere is only going to be 3 and only one of those women are her friend. the other one is her cousin. I don't even want to go to the wedding much less be in it. I was thinking of telling my mom that I had other plans that day and couldn't do it. Is that a good idea or should I think of something else? One of my friends say I should do it then make a scene in the middle of the ceremony. I thought that would be funny.

His family is Catholic and mine is not. This does not bother us, but for respect for those in the family that it would matter to, we want to have a non-church wedding. How does that work? How do I go about finding someone to marry us? And can it be at the same place as the reception? It is a December wedding so outside is not possible. If it is at the same place how do we go about the transition from ceremony to reception? That would for sure help with the budget!

The ceremony is at 6:00, so there will be plenty of time to do everything that day, I just dont know when to schedule my hair/ makeup etc. We are taking 99% of pictures before the ceremony (we'll take a few afterwards to catch the sunset) and I dont know how long that normally takes...here is my schedule for the day, please tell me if it makes sense or sounds crazy!

12:30-3:00: hair,makeup (2 hrs), travel to ceremony site(1/2 hr)
3:00-4:00: get dressed, jewelery, final touches, etc
4:00-5:45: pictures
6:00 ceremony

My sister just got engaged and is moving several states away in 3 weeks. I want to plan a bridal shower for her in her hometown or co-ed shower for them both but they can't haul a lot of gifts back to where they are moving. Can I plan a shower and request money or gift cards only for them instead of gifts that would take up too much room for travel? Also, if I do something like this would they open these at the shower like normal gifts or should we just play games and mingle? Any ideas would be great!

My close friend and I are darn near sisters separated at birth. I've known her for 8 years. We are very close talking daily since she's in another state. We made a pact years ago that whomever got married, the other will be there for the wedding. Why wasn't I aware of her impromptu (?) wedding until after the fact?! Even if it were spur of the moment, as much as she shares with me, seems she would have called me on the way to the courthouse letting me know of what she was about to do! I could have congratulated her and would appreciate her consideration for filling me in on her exciting news.
I received a general thank you email I'm sure she sent to everyone along with a wedding pic. What hurt me even more is that after reading her message, her wedding sounded more planned due to her thanking people for throwing her a bridal shower! I'm truly questioning our friendship now. It's awkward enough to feel left out but now I don't know about sending her a wedding gift.

Should I send it?

A friend I haven't heard from in 10 years called me yesterday saying she was getting married. When we last spoke we had a fight. It was the day before highschool graduation and she was being a total jerk. She treated me like dirt and expected me to still be her friend. I told her I couldn't handle this and never saw her after graduation.

Now I'm not one to hold a grudge, but she asked me to be the MOH in her wedding and I'm not sure if I want to. After the way she treated me in HighSchool I don't think I want to be the one she needs standing next to her other friends(whom also did me wrong, they beat me up and were really nast) whom will be bridesmaids, and act happy for her.

I want to decline the offer and will send her a card with a giftcard to Bed, Bath and Beyond. Is this rude? Should I go to the wedding, even if I don't want to be the MOH? HELP!

Me and my fiance just got engaged. Our wedding is set for 8/18/2009 (we have a while). My main problem is I do not have close friends who I would want in the wedding. My closest friend is dating my brother and I am afraid if I ask her to be my MOH and she breaks up with my brother then I am out of luck.

So my main question, are bridesmaids really necessary? We are having a small ceremony (hopefully) and do not want a big ordeal made out of it.

This guy I know is getting married, I've been acquainted with him for a few years but wouldn't really classify him as a close friend or even a friend at all considering how rarely we communicate with each other.

He's getting married though and having a small wedding with close friends and relatives, and my friend is close friends with the bride. The invitation states they can bring one guest. She said she doesn't know any guys who aren't already invited or in the wedding so she wanted to know if I'd like to be her +1 since I do know them and she figured I'd enjoy it.

My question is though isn't the +1 typically supposed to be someone you're seeing or your spouse not usually a friend? Would it be appropriate for me to go as her guest or should I thank her and decline?

I am in highschool, engaged to the most amazing guy ever. I love him and I know he loves me to but, he wants to get married really soon, and i want to wait till im 21. He wants to get married before i start college because he thinks i will find someone else. I have tried over and over to talk to him about it but he just wont budge and I wont budge. My grandma got married secretly when she was 16 and it didnt work out *i dont know why it didnt which scares me because whenever anyone gets married they always think it will work right? but then it doesnt* I also want to wait because I want to at least have an associates degree *so i can hopefully get a job before I can potentially get pregnant* and to be able to afford a place of our own. I feel like this is the right decision to wait for awhile.... but hes just so insecure! his dad was inlove too when he was our age and engaged but the girl cheated on him... why does my boyfriend have to be so afraid i will do the same? what should I do?
