Hi!

My wedding is about 7 months away, and I still need a dress. We just bought a house so I'm pretty much broke, but need a dress! I can spend UP TO $300. I don't care if the dress has been worn, as long as it is in excellent condition.

I am looking for something like this:

-ivory
-mid calf length (called Tea-length I believe)
-NO beading
-cap sleeves or sleeveless NO strapless
-very simple design, maybe with a sash or ribbon under bust or around the waist
-I'd like a design that will hide the fact I just had a baby! Maybe something empire waist?

If you have any links I can check out for a dress, please let me know! I want to buy online, and I live in Canada.

THANK YOU!

Have you tried ebay? There are seamstresses over in China that make some pretty snazzy stuff. My older sister is having a budget wedding & she found a cute dress on there for under $200. The shipping can get to be expensive, but overall the quality is pretty good. I've ordered some cosplay outfits from some of the seamstresses & I've been pretty satisfied. Just make sure that you do it early enough so you can contact them if the fit isn't right or things to that nature. If all else fails, you can always go to the local thrift stores & search through their shelves. There are often very nice dresses there for sale. You can also see if any of your family members or friends have a nice dress you can borrow.

Here is one that I think you may like:

EDIT:

BTW, if you do decide to check out the ebay people, always make sure to give them your real size. I sent one person an adjusted size (I added an extra 2 inches) only to find that the dress they sent me was a little too big (they also added 2 inches to the costume).

These are all actual bridesmaids dresses, but still.....they can be purchased in white and be used as a wedding dress. Plus these dresses will all be under $200 on top of it! It is hard to find a decent wedding dress for $300 or less. A friend of mine didnt have much money and they couldnt afford a glamourous wedding. She purchased a dress that was white at the end of prom season at a retail store at the mall for under $50 and you would have thought it was a true wedding dress. I know funds are limited and maybe you can find a store that offers dresses on lay-a-way? Or even if you bought say a dress for $500 that had to be ordered, you only have to put half down up front and get make installments on the remainder of the amount. You should feel like a princess on your day since it only happens once!!!!

But....here are a few very reasonable ideas to help you out!!!

I love this dress! I think it would be perfect!

This one will come in white also and is very chic and so 'sex in the city' style which is adorable!

Whether your a size 1 or a size 40 you will look beautiful in your wedding dress! My suggestion to you is go to a few bridal shops in your area and just go try on dresses! This is the best way to see what you like and what looks good on you. I got my dress at david's bridal and I have a few friends that are plus sized and they also got their dress atdavid's bridal and they look absolutely gorgeous! So get your beautiful behind in a bridal shop and try on dresses!

I know in my city we have resale shops that are specifically bridal. David's bridal has alot of gowns and frequent sales.

But you have 7 months. There isn't too much of a rush- since you want to get it closer to the wedding date anyway. You coudl gain/lose weight and don't want to have to get it altered again. Like you said, you just had a baby. You will lose some weight in the next few months.

But find out what places are nearby, check local papers for ads and keep your eye out for sales at local bridal shops.

I got mine for 100 at a HUGE David's Bridal sale. I would see when they are having their big sales (I think they have them twice a year). I know I got mine in February.

Here are some of their tea length ones:

EDIT- Oh, you may also want to look at bride's maids dresses that are tea length. You can often get them in white or a very light color.

I really like this one, especially if you still have a nice chest (a perk of having a baby...well at least for a while).

Sometimes private owned dress shops have a clearance rack. That's how I got my dress. I was supposed to be $299. By accident someone had marked it down to $99. Good Luck

I had my bridesmaids order their dresses from cocomyles.com--the dresses are under $150, and you can determine the top and bottom, as well as fabric (satin or charmeuse).

The dresses were beautiful, and simple. Many were even worn after the event!

It's a great site, and one I'd recommend to anyone, be they bridesmaids or brides! Really nice people too!

Try shopping department stores for white cocktail dresses. Target has some nice gowns at great prices, but none are tea length: http://www.target.com/b/ref=sc_fe_l_1_16033001/601-5322416-8201743?ie=UTF8&node=347006011
