I am getting married in a few months and we are trying to finalize our budget. We cannot seem to get straight answers on these two vendors.

If we are to tip the band how much per piece? We have seen a range of $20-$100 a piece. That is a huge difference. We are getting an 11 piece band. We don't mind paying the $100 a piece tip but not if it is way over what is customary. It isn't that we are cheap....we just don't want to be irrational or tacky.

And how much if anything do you tip a photographer? Again....there are no straight answers anywhere.

Hey there!

The HTB and I are planning our wedding in Hawaii. We live in California. Because it's a "destination" wedding, we're thinking of only inviting those people that we know will come, like family and close friends.

We plan on having a big reception back home with everyone who couldn't make it to Hawaii. We'll have a video from the wedding playing sometime during the reception (haven't decided when yet).

How would we word this on the invitation? Should we invite everyone to prevent hard feelings, and just assume they won't be able to make it anyways? Would you feel like it was rude to not be invited to the ceremony and only to the reception?

I definitely do NOT want to be a Bridezilla and do NOT want to hurt anyone's feelings. Thanks for your input :)

I am planning to have my wedding and reception at the same place. It is a beautiful 3500 sq ft rectanglular site with windows on 3 sides and a great view. I just have no idea how to set it up to make the wedding flow to the reception directly afterwards. Any tips?

I'm invited to a bridal shower this weekend. My boyfriend will also be invited to the wedding (we both know the couple), but the bridal shower is girls only. It's not a lingerie shower or anything - just lunch, and giving gifts for the couple's new home. My question is, on the card that accompanies the gift, should I just write that it's from me, or should I include my boyfriend's name also?

We have been dating over 4 years and he proposed about 3 months ago. I fell in love with a venue and want to book an available date towards the end of the summer before someone else takes it. The only thing is that my Fiance won't give me an answer and dances around the subject.....what do I do?

okay, so one of my best friends (i'll call her V) is getting married, and myself and our other best friend (i'll call her T) are bridesmaids or matrons of honor (it's not clear yet--V also has two sisters...)

well, i was wondering, who would throw the shower?

V & T were both in my wedding & i didn't get a shower (wasn't ever mentioned & didn't even occur to me till just now) and V & I were in T's wedding & her shower was thrown by her MIL....(T didn't mind us not throwing her one--but then she was notoriously hard to get ahold of in order to plan one; also, i think V would understand if i didn't since i'm quite pregnant & very broke... and T would be of no help)

i was just wondering... should i worry about throwing her a shower or leave it up to her sisters or mother or MIL?

My stepfather and I had a pretty terrible relationship throughout my childhood; always fighting and yelling at each other. He and my mother divorced and we all went our separate ways. I am now a Christian and last year, I reconnected with my stepfather and we have a wonderful stepfather/stepdaughter relationship NOW. I'm getting married in 8 months and I want to share a dance with my stepfather but I can't find an appropriate song for us. All the father/daughter songs are about the past and how great it was - I need a song (it can be religious or not) that talks about a rough past or a reconciliation. It can be any genre, really. I'm 22 and my stepfather is 40 - we like all styles of music. Does anyone know of any songs that talk about an apology or forgiving the past?

My boyfriend has been asked to be a best man but someone else has arranged the stag weekend without him even knowing about it and he has now been asked to pay towards the cost of renting his suit. Is that normal? I thought they were ment to pay for it!

People act shocked when I say that I don't want to hire a wedding photographer. Of course I want the day memorialized, but I have plenty of friends and family with good digital cameras. Plus, I'm not interested in all of the posed shots. Plus plus, I'm trying to keep to a modest budget, and a book full of photos is just not a priority. Any suggestions?

I recieved my itemized bill the other day for our flowers at the wedding and the reception. I thought the total price was pretty darn cheap. I went back to the shop to change the bridesmaids bouquets because they were going to be too blah. When she looked at the price list she realized she undercharged me from the get go by almost $400. All together it was still a little under a grand for fresh flowers but still....We ended up tweaking the arrangements and using different flowers on some of the arrangements then the tiger lillies and orlando roses we had org. planned. Should I have been honored the price that was quoted to me at first or is this just an oops on their part and I have to accept it? I was overly mad, but secretly I was fuming on the inside. As long as my flowers look great on my wedding day thats all that matters in the long run.

My fiance and love each other we compliment each other wonderfully. The only thing we don't see perfectly eye to eye on is religion. He calls himself an Existentialist, which is different from Agnostic. My boyfriend is a truely amazing testament to God's grace, as he's been through many horrifying incidents; but I can see why he would question the existence of a loving God when so many awful things have happened to him. I was very honest from the beginning, telling him my physical limits and morals; he's never tried to overstep them once. I told him when we first talked about marriage that it was important that I have a Christian ceremony, and raise my children to be Christian (Or take them to Temple, as he's culturally Jewish). He agreed wholeheartedly; he's even attended church with me multiple times. I believe interfaith marriages are possible, but they are challenging, and most people would rather avoid the extra stress than deal with the extra dynamics. Any opinions?

We (bride and groom) take pictures with wedding party SEPERATELY starting at 6pm. The ceremony starts at 7pm. I want to meet him in the garden outside of the chapel to "steal" a moment alone with him around 15 min before ceremony starts. Plus, I want our photographer to capture our looks of surprise ( or disappointment ha ha) when we first see each other. Is that so wrong? Am I messing up tradition? No mean or stupid answers, i am serious.

my dad and my stepmother are paying for the wedding and I think the invitation should be addressed that my dad and my step mother be hosting and say there names. The problem is is that my mother is upset if i do not mention her in the invitation but technically since she is not paying and i do not think that she should be mentioned but i dont want to hurt her feelings. Any suggestions on wording for the invitations so that i dont hurt anyones feelings?

I have narrowed my choice down to 2.

One of my friends I have known for about 12 years. We were best friends in high school, we have been roommates for 3 years, and we work together. However I am worried about him doing something stupid because when he drinks he drinks too much and always gets plastered. He says stupid things and dosent remember what he said the next day.

The other I have known for about 10 years. I hang out with him more often, our girlfriends get along, I also feel like I can tell him anything. He was the only one that knew that I bought a ring and was about to propose. I feel that he is a closer friend to me. He is more responsible in general and I would trust him with anything.

I just don't know. I think that #2 is a better choice but I am afraid that #1 will hold it against me because we have been good friends for so long.

Do you have any advice for letting one of them down easy...

I have a friend who has been offered $500 a month to get married to a woman from Brazil.
I guess the deal is he has to be married to her for three years and will be paid $500 a month through that time.
I have heard of this being done before. How does this work and why?
I would like to know what this must entail.

How was it? It happened the way you imagined? Was romantic? Was the most important day of your life? Have you promised your mom or your grandmother you will be a bride? I am just curious how people weddings are, what do people feel in their wedding day. I was reading somewhere how the wedding day is the day when the groom loves his wife the most. It sounded romantic. Tell me about you guys.

His family is rude. We never talk to them. He is just my bf, not husband, fiance, etc. His father told me " You are going and that is final" I dont want to go!
Its 2400 miles away from where we live. The only reason I have a ticket there is because its in our home town and my mom bought me one to vist her over Thanksgiving.
My bf is in the wedding, therefore I wont even sit by him at dinner.
I have plans to be with my family and friends.
Is this rude of me????? Im sure the wedding will go on w/o me!

I was a bridesmaid for someone that I considered a very good friend. As her bridesmaid, I hosted one of her multiple bridal showers. I also purchased a dress that she picked out from an online wholesaler, and paid for alterations, shoes & accessories. Well now 2 days after the shower, my "friend" comes up to me & says that I'm no longer needed to be a bridesmaid. Her hubbys friend isn't going to be coming,(groomsmen) therefore there is no need for me. Because of the seating arrangements I'm also no longer invited to the wedding. (I would have been sitting at the attendants table if I were still invited) Because I'm no longer an attendant she can't add chairs to the already full tables. I feel that I was used. I asked her to reimburse me for my expenses. She said that she is not paying for items that she didn't purchase. I think she should at least pay me for my dress ($250) if not anything else. Is it wrong for me to feel that I should be compensated. I cant even attend now!!
