I'm looking for a caketopper for my wedding cake, of dorothy and the scarecrow.
Im an avid wizard of oz fan and this year my fiance and I are going as Dorothy and the Scarecrow to my company halloween party. It's got sentimental value with the both of us! Serious answers only! :)

I think she is crazy-i will not invite my mothers friends to the wedding bc she might get upset. My wedding is a personal celebration that I want to share with people close to me, not everyone i ever met!

That's one of the only parts of a traditional wedding I've always envisioned... Dad says his knees are too bad for the walking but he'll meet me at the front and say he gives me away...

Plus, money's been tight the whole time we've been trying to plan anyway, but I don't want my Dad to feel like I think he ruined our plans...

So should we just do a less formal ceremony without all that, or still do it the way my Dad suggested?

I have a wedding coming up Nov 3rd. It is semi-formal and after 5. THe wedding colors are Chocolate brown (my husband is in the weddign party). Is it ok to wear a black flowing cocktail dress to the wedding? it is very elegant with an empire waist. I bought it a couple of years ago and have never had an occasion to wear it. At the bridal shower everyone was in black and white?

Daughter has been living w/fiance for 1 year, going out
total of 3 years. I've had issues with him lying about certain
things, job, education, etc. But he seems to make her happy
so we have been planning a big wedding for April 08. She sent us an e-mail telling us that she has been wanting to tell us something for awhile now but was afraid of
our reaction. He has 2 daughters, ages 7/8 who he and his
parents have been raising (until he started living w/my daughter
1 yr ago). His parents will continue raising them because of school and friends!!?? 1 girl is biologically his the other is
from same mother but not his who he claimed as his own
because of his love!! Well the mother dumped him and her 2 daughters with him and now only sees them once every 3 months!! The wedding dress is bought, the bridesmaids dresses are bought, deposit on hall ($3,800) and photo.
I want to stop the cash flow now, but my husband doesn't want
to allienate our daughter. What should we do?

Following advice I have received on here, I asked my boyfriend why he wasn't interested in proposing to me yet. I have been excited about him asking me for over a year so i'm getting pretty restless. The answer he gave me was so typical and i'm devastated. He claims he will propose 'some day', and couldn't understand that I was so upset 'just because' he didn't want to propose to me yet. how does this sound to you, because I'm feeling that after this long, marriage isn't part of his plans.

life, and more importantly, your future spouses life and make their dreams (job/kids/education/ etc) fairly impossible, would you still marry them (assuming they still would be willing to marry you), or would you release the person from the engagement?

We don't have a large budget and we're having our reception at a restaurant that has a full bar. They won't allow us to close off the bar so we were thinking about paying $500.00 for the drinks and once that money is used up people will have to pay for their own drinks. What's your thoughts?

P.S. My husband to be, me, his parents and my parents don't even drink!

We want to get legally married before he gets deployed to iraq, in case if anything were to happen to him. But my family wants us to get married in the church. I was wondering if we could get legally married now, and then when he comes home from Iraq, we can have the Catholic cermony.

Site A

-45 mins away
-large room that can fit up to 300--very nice decor/up-to date
-cocktail hour, open bar, 4-course sit down dinner. Dessert
-Use of bridal suite
-Linens, Flower Centerpieces and Wine at each table is included.
Cost: $70 a person

Site B

-25 mins away
-room fits 150
-cocktail hour, open bar, 2-courses sit down dinner. No Cake provided
-No bridal suite
-Silk Floral Centerpieces included.
-No modern attire (not a horrible place. But, a little early 90's New Jersey style wedding decor)
Cost: $65 a person.

Site A is very well known for it's elegant ambiance and excellent food. It's a big far, but it's a good deal with LOTs for food. I'm just worried if there is any traffic 45min could be over an hour.

Site B is OK if you get to use a large room. We have 130 guests. So, we get the smaller room. I'm worried the food will be thin-especially with only 2-courses. But, it's closer.

Thoughts.

Okay my cousin coiuld hardly wait to get married. She knew she wanted a doctor and she knew he had to be of the same culture and religion...all this since she was little mind you. She is now a doctor herself and is married to a doctor of the same culture and religion (she chased him) but what gets my goat...is that she has to show off for everything...even when she was a kid she always had to have the new outfit for every occasion...and of course we were jealous because she was always so stylish...but what I don;t get is that when she started dated her now husband she immediately bought a faux diamond wedding band and even after they married she still wears and yes she does not let on that it is fake...even though we all remember when she bought it. Is that wierd that she still wears it?? I know I should not care but it just seems strange to me.

I don't dance, I mean ever. Neither does my boyfriend. My family doesn't dance at weddings, my boyfriend's family did dance at his sister's wedding, but he and I just sat at the table for the whole reception. Neither of us drink, and our families aren't big drinkers, so as long as I kept it short, could we get away without either? It's not like anyone would be traveling from far away, we live in north eastern connecticut, the farthest someone would be traveling is south eastern massachusetts.

My fiance always wanted a beach wedding and we live in SoCal so I said why not. However, we have no idea where we should be looking, what permits might be required, et cetera. Iwould appreciate some info or weblinks that may lead us to our answer.

Were planning a formal vow renewal for march of 2011. It's going to be a formal event. With just close family and a few friends.

The problem: My hubby's sister hates me. We don't get along at all. Ive done my best to be civil and cordial to no avail. My hubby wants his sister thereI don't. You can't invite my mil without my sil to an event like this. The other problem is she wanted to be MY moh, and I've chosen someone else in my family (brothers wife). This also added fuel to the fire. I told my husband WHY would I want to have his sister as my moh if she hates me? That makes no sense. He said "to keep the peace". What peace I thought. She's been rude and hateful to me since the day after our wedding. Hubby witnessed it all. He stands by me.

What can I do to make this event drama free other then discluding my husbands sister? SHe is his family. I want him to be happy to.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
