Weddings - October 2007

We got married five years ago (next year) and want to retake our vows only after the serious re-do, we thought we would put fun into it - so I will be the bride this time. I will have a proper wedding dress and lingerie and hair dne and everything, one of my wife's friends suggested it and the more we talked it seemed a good idea? Should i go for it?

My fiancee and I both have children (1 boy and 1 girl between us) and we want to include them in the wedding. They already have positions as flower girl and best man (?), but we want to do something to bring us together as a family.

- stuff from bath and body (was thinking gift baskets w/ lotions, lip balms, body sprays, and maybe throw in a little shower radio)
- a spa gift certificate to use at various locations
- clothing of some type - like nice pajamas from victoria secret or something
- some sort of tote bag (without their names on it)
- something more personalized like little jewelry boxes

I'm not going to give jewelry or pictures. Wedding is around the corner and I need to narrow down some ideas quickly. I'd really like to give them a nice yet affordable gift.

I haven't heard a congrats from anyone in my family except for my parents and brother. We are 19 and 20 and are waiting 3 yrs till school is done... It seems like mom doesn't approve but keeps skirting around the subject. It is really stressing me out that my family isn't behind me in my decisions. I really need advice!!!

Oh dear.

My brother's fiancee wants me to be in her wedding. I'm honored, and I want to be in my brother's wedding.

The problem is that the dress is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive and there is no way at all whatsoever that I can afford it unless I go without eating or pass up on other bills for a month.

Has anyone ever been in this dilemma? What did you do?

On july 6th of 2007 I married my army soldier through court. Hes been in the military since 2003 and wont get out later than 2012. Hes leaving next year but not sure when and not sure when he returns. Its been pretty difficult to plan my formal wedding because of the army. I would love to do it before he leaves but theres not enough money.

Well I am a little sad mostly upset at my sister.
She offered me as gift to take my future husband and I to Hawaii for our honey moon she had this trip in mind for like a year cause her husband is president of a company so they always travel with the employees as a reward
We called my fiancés parents and they gave us the idea to just get married at Hawaii all our family was gonna go. After a week of planning and being exited and happy she calls today and tells me that it might be cancelled cause she might get divorce?
She married this guy cause of the material benefits so that’s a different story.
But she’s done this b4 to me to my mom to my niece to my sister. And its not fair.
I just want to call her and let her know that I don’t need her GIFTS”
What you think? I even as her to me my bridesmaid and after all I just don’t even wann
See her.
I don’t care about Hawaii I care about how she offers the world to my family and it wont happen.

I Love the idea of having children at my wedding. The problem is every-one My whole bridal party and parents and feonce' say its a bad idea and we shouldnt have children at the wedding. I am just so confussed because alot of people are comming from out of town and they have kids...what are they supost to do with there kids while at the wedding? plus what about my ring boys and flower girl. there children what iam i supost to do with them afterwords. The hall where i am having my wedding is really awesome because it has three rooms i was planning on getting someone to take the kids into one of the rooms with toys and and they could all play. but no one thinks this is a good idea. what should i do/ do you think kids at a wedding is an okay idea. there is going to be no booze at all.

My MOH has turned into a total b#tch and I don't know why. I've not been demanding AT ALL on any bridesmaids. She got irritated when I said I wasn't going to use programs at my wedding (don't know why). Met her up to shop, and she left after 15 minutes saying "I dont feel like shopping, I can't find anything". Told me that she couldn't make it to the rehearsal dinner because of some BS reason. Spent a conversation telling me how she is so smart, has a photographic memory (uh huh), and brags about how much money she and her husband have to spend. Stood me up another time we were supposed to meet. Craps on my ideas even though it has nothing to do with her at all. Overall she's been very negative, and I've come to learn that she is a friend "of convenience" ...she's only nice to me when she wants something. Unfortunately it took my wedding planning to see this. I'm 99% sure I don't want to save the friendship. Wedding is too close. Can I phase her out right away?

I'm getting married next year and the only thing that I am stressing about is the "Father/Daughter" dance. I haven't seen my father is over 10 years and don't plan on ever seeing him again. My question is, for the Father/Daughter dance, what do I do? I have talked to my fiance about this and he says to ask his father if he would dance with me. The only thing about this is that I feel it would be stepping on his sister's toes. That is her father and not mine. I don't have any other male figure in my life. Any suggestions???

My fiance does not have health insurance with his current job. At this time I have health insurance and if we got married I could cover him on mine. He's coming down with strep throat and has a tooth that needs pulled. He also has some back problems that require care. We were thinking of having a "shotgun" wedding soon so that he can have health coverage, but we cannot afford to have the reception now. The problem is - I already bought my "non returnable" wedding dress. Would it be tacky to have the wedding now and wear the dress to the reception in May?

One of my ring-bearers is extremely hefty. He has a 35 inch waist at 8 years old. (Bigger than the groom and all but one of the wedding party) When we got him measured, he tried on the tuxedo jacket. To fit his roundness, the shoulders look huge. Two bridal shops told us that with his measurements, he won't look good in a tux. Our only option is to buy a jacket and make massive alterations to it. Problem there is that he won't match the other ringbearer. Even if we could match it, it's an additional $100 plus alterations. Any suggestions about what we can do without spending a fortune on him? Would they look odd without jackets? (I am working on a budget here and the extra $150 is taking away from the photographer)

Hi im getting married next year. And i come from a large community and when it comes to weddings there is no mucking around. I need to think of a good and different entrance for the bride and groom into the reception. An entrance with a bang and that will keep people talking for months :-) eg.walk in with drums playing..fireworks...but something different to that....Please help !

My wedding director told me that some brides have a friend (usually the maid of honor) stand in for her at the rehearsal. The bride sits back and watches everything. Has anyone else heard of this or done it? I think it would be a little weird to watch someone else practice marrying my future husband.

I'm a graphic designer in the metro detroit area and I am just starting to create magazine style wedding albums. My concept is to become much more creative an personal that the average album. The design time will be increased but I dont want to over charge. What do brides pay in this area for a book like this? And how much is a reasonable price for lets say a 40 page hard cover album?
