It is your choice. You can have a dress that comes right to the floor without a train.. Or you can have a dress with a short train, medium train, or long train.

Hello,
Usually when you have a floor length dress, it should be hemmed so that it's as long as it can be without touching the floor. Usually this means that only a bit of your toes will show. If the dress is puffy than they probably won't even show. A tailor would know where to hem it to, but make sure to go to a good one so that they don't screw it up (had this problem before). As for the train.. it's all up to you and what you are comfortable with. Some wedding dresses don't have them at all, and others have massive ones that I can't imagine being very practical for dancing and what not. If you really want a train, many dresses have ways of tying the up to the back of the dress once the ceremony is done so that it isn't in the way... and it ties up in a way that makes the dress still look very pretty in the back. Hope some of this helps :)

It depends on what kind of wedding you are going to have. If its some traditional religious ceremony in a cathedral, longer trains are more appropriate. If its on the beach, or outdoors, a short train, if any, is better.

Also you should not have to hold your dress when you are walking. It should come just to the floor in the front, so you don't have to lift that part, but after you go down the aisle, someone will bustle (tie up) the train for you to enjoy the reception without dragging that thing around.

You should be able to move around comfortably in your dress and not have any trouble walking. The front of the dress should be almost floor-length, but not so long that you step on it. My dress is actually an evening gown, so it has no train. I'm having the seam taken in so that the bottom of the dress touches the top of the toe of my shoe.

generally your wedding dress is floor length with a train that follows :o)

if you're having an indoor wedding its nice to have a train as it looks great in photos and walking up the ailse...but if its a beach wedding then a shorter train is prob best or no train at all so it doesnt get dusty with sand...

a train can also be pinned up when you're dancing at the reception afterwards...all in all - theres no set standard when it comes to wedding dresses - which every dress you love will be perfect xx

Its whatever is up to you...

I knew I wanted a very long train... so my train was 12 feet long and even 8 feet wide.... but it was detachable, so when it came time for the reception, I was able to take it off in order to move around and dance freely

During the ceremony it was easy... there were a few times my Maid Of Honor had to get up and straighten out my train (like after I went and lit the unity candle and came back)... but it went well and I loved the dress!

But right after the ceremony and pictures, the train was taken right off!

Here's a picture of my dress

But its completely up to you.... if you want a long train, great, just check and see if its detachable (its easy to move around the reception in and you dont want the underneath of the train getting messed up badly)

Good luck!

Its usually longer in the back than the front. You should be able to walk forward in it. So the front may be just touching the floor, or even higher. After the ceremony, you can bustle it to bring up the long back so you can move around.

There is no should. It can be as long as you want it. If you mean in the front, make sure it just brushes the tops of your shoes, so you don't trip. If you are holding it to walk straight, you need it shortened . You really don't want to trip walking up the aisle.

Take your dress to a tailor, they can hem it to the coreect length so that you can walk comfortably. You dont want to have to hold it up or worry about tripping! Good Luck!

A wedding dress in my opinion should be as long as up a woman's knees or a little above her ankle because it would be easier for her to walk around in and dance with her partner. Also so the other girls could see how good her shoes look.
