I'm a graphic designer in the metro detroit area and I am just starting to create magazine style wedding albums. My concept is to become much more creative an personal that the average album. The design time will be increased but I dont want to over charge. What do brides pay in this area for a book like this? And how much is a reasonable price for lets say a 40 page hard cover album?

Together Book charges $250.00 for 2 5x7 photo books with up to 200 photos in Japanese silk covers and cover stamping. That's a special deal and the user would be creating the book (s) their selves.
Your idea is such a unique idea. I love it and would pay for such a service. There is a company called Your Cover that does personalized magazine covers for events. Just a cover front and back page on glossy paper. It can be used for invitations, wedding programs, birthday's, centerpieces etc. I would assume your product would be something along the same lines as this but stepping it up a notch to an book or album form. Judging from their site they charge $50.00 for one cover plus holder and free shipping. Additional covers would be $4.25 for 25-50 copies. Maybe you can charge a flat fee for so many pages and then any additional pages could be so much per page. Something like $50.00 for the first 10 pages and $4.25 for additional pages. Maybe the your cover site will help you figure out what the best price should be for your service. It is a unique service and it takes a lot more creativity than placing photos in an album.

When I got married, the photographer tried to charge us 1,500. I did not buy it.
On Shutterfly, they are 40- 60 bucks.
I'm not sure how much you should charge, but you should keep in mind that most people are going to research before they hand over the big $$.

My photographer wanted to charge $1200- but I am doing my own book on Picaboo. It will cost about $60 when I am done. Unless you're going to offer something that people can't do themselves, you're really going to need to keep the price low.
