Wait until you both get out. Waiting 5 to 10 years to be together is a long long time. Most relationships don't last 1 year on long distance.

This is no way to start a marriage. You will have no time to build your marriage before you are separated for a long time.
You know for sure he will be incarcerated and you may be as well. There is no telling how being in prison will change either of you. You may be totally different people when you get out.
Wait until this turmoil is over and see how you feel then.
Good luck.

If there are children involved, then I would suggest of getting married. If being married would make you a stronger couple, together and apart, then yes get married. 5-10 is a long time, anything that could make you both stronger.......is a very good idea. Blessings, Chaplain Debby

With a prison time that long, you might not recognize each other by the time it's over. You might grow to be two different people. At that point will you still want to be married? It would be better to hold off until all this is over.

It sounds like you have enough to worry about besides planning a wedding. I would wait because you don't know what is going to happen. The fact that you are even asking indicates to me that you are not sure you want to. If you are not 100% sure, then don't!

Please wait! As others have said, you may grow apart while either of you are incarcerated. Getting married does not ensure that you will stay together.
If your relationship can survive this time, THEN get married.
Save the money you would spend on the wedding to hire a good attorney.

If you want to get married, get married. BUT if you get probation and he gets 10 years.... that's a long time to be alone.

It might be wise to wait.
All sorts of things will probably change in the years to come.
Wait and see. You will eventually know why.
