Im getting married next month and we're just having a ceremony and a nice dinner for close friends and family. we're not having a reception/dance or anything. Just gonna go out to eat at a nice restaurant after the ceremony. Do you think its ok to wear my bridal gown to the restaurant or would it be too weird?

We are planning an attending a wedding in two weeks of a friend at work who is planning on renewing his vows with his wife. He called me over the weekend at home and asked if it would be OK if our daughter who is 21, could be sat away from us at another table because the tables only take 8 people each and that she would be an odd number.
He is REALLY cheap and I don't think he is very into this wedding and is doing it for his wife. I think he is trying to squeeze as many people as possible into these table so he doesn't have to rent an extra one.
Anyway, I felt a little hurt and felt this was really tacky to call and ask us to have our daughter sit away from us. Now we are thinking of not going. We don't see him outside of work anyway and I do think we were invited because we asked them to ours in Scotland last year (they did not attend).
Would you have been offended?

I just got engaged but I'm not sure if I'm wearing the ring on the correct ring finger hand... Should I wear it on my right hand ring finger? or on my left hand ring finger?

I'm Asian and I don't know where Asians normally wear it ( I know wedding rings are worn on the right...).

Hi all,

I am getting married in 2009. We have alot to plan. I need a little help with a problem I am going through. My fiance has a best friend that he has been friends with since he was 4 years old. He is loud and I think a complete problem when he is drunk. Well, there has been two incidents that have occured since the 2 years I have been with my fiance. The first being, one time his friend was drunk at a party we were at and he put his knee on my butt as if he was playing around. But he did it hard in front of his wife. He later apologized for that. I accepted his apology but still a little weary. Another incident, was at a wedding we were all at. We were all sitting at the same table at the wedding reception. I have to admit, I am a very shy and quiet person when I don't know someone, especially infront of strangers. I don't drink and I was tired at the end of the reception. His friend yelled at me and said you don't drink and don't talk..what do you do! I just cried

My boyfriend and I are both 24 and its getting to the point where I don't know whether I can wait any longer for him to commit. We've been travelling all summer and I was devastated to come home without getting engaged. I couldn't think of a more perfect time to do it, no worries, no need to work, visiting beautiful places. I've asked him whether he includes marriage into his plans for the future and he says he does want to marry me but he can't understand why cant I just be happy with the fact we're in love and happy together. How can you be unsure after 3 years? I've told him I don't want a ring and would like a few years to plan a wedding but still no proposal. Am I wasting my time? Please no 'why don't you ask him' or 'its just a piece of paper' answers!

One of the bridesmaids that was going to be in our wedding decided to drop out for some ridiculous reason. My fiance doesn't want to ask one of his groomsmen to drop out and I don't think he should, but I don't want to ask anyone else to be in our wedding. The bridesmaid that dropped out was one of his friends, not mine.

I have the choice of asking a friend of mine that initially I wasn't even going to invite to the wedding. I have nothing against her, but we're not close.

OR

Asking my sister in law who I don't like. She's also nearing obesity and the bridesmaids dresses I picked are strapless, so she'll look offensive. (If I do use her, can I pick a different style that's more suited to a big woman (covered up) for her while allowing the other women to wear what they chose?)

OR

Just having an uneven number of groomsmen and bridesmaid.
This is my first choice, but my fiance seems a bit iffy about it and thinks that I should pick someone.

My fiance and I have been together for 5 years, and he just propsed. He and my family have never gotten along (they result of very stubborn people, all parties are to blame in some way), but he is a good man whom I love very much. He has been nothing but wonderful to me. One of my sisters has specifically said that she will not attend my wedding or have anything to do with any children we have, because he told her that her opinion of him does not matter. Another sister of mine will do whatever the first one says. I haven't even gotten up the courage to tell them we are getting married, but I wanted to tell my friends and family by asking them to be involved. Should I bother telling these two sisters that I will have dresses for them, and if they decide at the last minute that my happiness is more important than their feud, I want them to come and participate?

I would like to decorate our main bathroom, but it is also our children's bathroom (one door connects to their bedroom). The kids are 4 and 1 years old so I didn't want something too mature in that bathroom just because it is also a guest bathroom nor do I want to use some Disney theme. I wanted a "sea life" theme, but brightly colored. Would people be offended if I put things on the registry that they thought was for my kids only?

If you are spending the money to travel to another destination for a wedding what are the obligations for a gift? What would be an acceptable amount of money to give in this case?

My husband and I will be celebrating our 3 year wedding anniversary in Feb 08. I am thinking of having a "redo wedding" or "renew our vows". When we got married I was 4 months pregnant so we did not get to enjoy our reception as we should have. Everything was done quick because I had morning sickness so bad. I want another chance.

I am having the hardest time trying to figure out the wording on my invites.
My future in-laws are divorced. My mother-in-law has been dating someone for 7 seven years and my father-in-law has a boyfriend which he lives with and helps raise my fiance and all his siblings. Everyone wants to be named and I have no clue how to do it and please everyone since I am from a very traditional family. I am trying not to offend anyone by leaving them out but dont want to scare my family who does not even believe in divorces....HELP

I'm trying to think of a small role for my future husband's 9 year old sister to do at our wedding next year. We don't really want her to play a huge part in it, i.e. flower girl or bridesmaid, as our daughter will have the only important role at the ceremony, but we feel we should include her in something. The wedding itself is informal with very little tradition, therefore, there is no Order Of Service etc for her to hand out.
Any ideas would be much appreciated!

I have heard so many people say that the wedding is the bride's day. Is that necessarily true? How do you go about changing that? My fiance believes that the wedding day is the bride's day. I want his input and his tastes portrayed at the wedding ceremony just as mine will be. Is it just usually that the woman takes care of all the wedding arrangements and things?
