We are planning on getting married May 24, 2008. He is in the army, currently stationed in Fort Knox, KY but we are both from North Carolina and would like to have a beach wedding. Does anyone have any ideas about how we could have a cheap but nice wedding, because we have no money! We have to pay for it all ourselves, so we want something simple, but unforgetable. Does anyone have any ideas about where we could have the ceremony and reception? We want to have the cermony somewhere on the beach of North Carolina... Thanks!

One person is also working on their master's (paid for buy their employeer) and will increase their income by about 15K-20K when completed (about 1.5 years)

I honestly want to plan a backyard wedding with good home-cooked food like prime rib, BBQ Chicken, and vegetables, salad, rolls, and of course appetizers and drinks, and the cake only for about 50 people.
I will rent tables, and covers, have no music (which to me is a distraction), no dancing just mingling. I don't plan to go into decorations or lights or anything just simplicity. I will have no flowers at the church or in the backyard, just my bouqet.
I am a simple person, but someone is telling me I am cheap and should go all out since this is once in a life time, and I should have the best. Mind you, I make minimum wage $7 an hour, and my parents can help very little. So your thoughts.

I think it's a waste of money and that they just get in the way. Is it just for aesthetics? Or is there really a reason why the bride and bridesmaids carry flowers?

My dad just found out he's having liver failure .. pretty bad.

My boyfriend and i are not even engaged yet. Of course growing up i've dreamed about this nothing, nothing to big, but my dad HAS to walk me downt he isle. I wouldn't dream of a wedding any different.

We've been wanting to get married but he hasn't asked yet .. we talk about it all of the time .. but he's been wanting to get me the perfect ring ...

ANYWAYS .. would it be silly to rush it along with the news my dad is really ill?

I really want to .. what do you think?

Ok so me and my fiance want to have a June-ish to about September wedding. We haven't set an exact date due to finding out what is good for both families but we are not sure where to have the big day. I want some thing that is different. I don't want it at a regular hall. As for him he is leaving it up to me so I need ideas of some great place in the Southern California area. We live in the Los Angeles area but have many family members that are scattered so the city is not a big deal. What i would like to know is if you have been to or had a wedding some where and would highly suggest it. If you have web sites, phone numbers, names, or whatever that is good. Thank you to everyone who has suggestions!

I want to do Vanilla ice but my DJ said that prob wasn't a good choice unless I wanted the wedding party to be staring blankly at each other.. And then running to hide. He suggested a slow song and then after dinner he'll hit Mr. Ice.
What songs can you think of that mention friends?? Funnier the better and I love the 80s!
Thanks!!

I am planning a really informal wedding, I will have no bridesmaids or groomsmen. My fiancee and me and our daughter will be the only participates plus the minister. I was wondering could anyone give me ideas how to include my family in the wedding. Also give me any ideas about how to do the ceromony. As many ideas as you can think of, THANKS!!!!

My boyfriend (now fiance) just asked me to marry him on Monday. He got me a really nice ring (which I love so much) but more importantly were getting married ,and im super excited. I have always thought its weird that guys get nothing for asking a girl to marry them, and I remember when we first started dating, he mentioned the same. So I want to buy him a nice gift, especially since i have the money for it right now (a great time). I dont want to get him a watch because I know he might not ever wear it. I want to get him like a ring maybe? But if I got him one for his wedding finger, then he would have 2 bands by the time that the wedding comes around (a wedding band on the day I say I do). He wore my class ring on his pinky for the past 6 months, until it broke wear it had been resized when I bought it...would a pinky ring be weird? Ughhh im at such a loss for ideas...

I have been engaged for about 10 months with no definite wedding date set. My fiance and I have been together for over 4 years. Over the last few months I have realized that we are really not compatible in many ways. We have no common interests, our family backgrounds are completely different, and I am starting to doubt that I really even love him. He is a wonderful guy, and obviously there is something good about us for us to stay together for so long. I just don't want to end up in a bad marriage. But, one of the reasons I am reluctant to break off the engagement is that I would owe him $5,000 and cannot afford to pay him back right now. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Who did you ask? Why? How did you keep the peace with people who wanted to be in the wedding but were not asked? Or others (say parents, aunts, uncles) who were displeased with the people you did ask?
Just wondering how other folks have handled this headache.

I am thinking about opening a business that caters to brides on their wedding day. This would go beyond the basic planner. In this role, I would be a bride's maid for the day, right down to a uniform. I would help her dress, do her makeup and nails, and keep pesky relatives away.

During the reception, I would fetch drinks and appetizers, help her in the bathroom and rub her feet if they get tired. Does this sound like a service people would be interested in? Are there other things I should include to make this more appealing?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 2 years and when he finally popped the question, I quickly started planning my dream wedding. His family and I get along really well, but ever since they found out my wedding was in december, there is a huge tension between us. They countiually ask us to move it back till may 2009, so that the attention is not taken off of his sister. I really dont know what to do, because this happy time in our life has turn into a nightmare. THis situation which is suppose to bring me and him closer together is only tearing us apart. He wants to make everyone happy, but I dont see where it is any of their business to tell us to push our wedding back. Please help!!!!

I know its a serious decision but why do the majority of men seem to swear by the motto " I'm not ready. " What is so scary and why do you think there are there so many women out there waiting for a proposal? How did you know when you were ready or have any of you proposed just to keep your girlfriends happy?

For example, i saw the girl makes his bf get on his knees and kiss her feet in the public street apologizing for being late for a few minutes! He almost cried, and she laught and teased him. After some time she said it was a punishment and a lesson for him.
And what about you? Did you ever see?

Hello, this is a long one but PLEAAASSSSE help if you can.

More than anything I want a big, white wedding, a dress, bridesmaids, hotel reception, flower centrepieces, wedding gifts etc. But my Mum and Dad are divorced and I CANNOT have them in the same room. I know a lot of people will say "just talk to them, they'll be civil for one day!" But they WON'T. My mum's husband threatened to kill my Dad as did my Mum's bro. My Dad has hated my Nan for as long as I can remember, and my Dad tried to stop them from seeing me as a child. Both families have punched each other, smashed each others windows and slashed each others tyres and my Dad even has a stab wound.

So I HAVE TO ELOPE, there is no other way. I can't invite one without the other, and so I shall have to elope just me and my partner. This is making me depressed for two reasons:

1. My partners parents wont get to see him get wed
2. I really want the wedding i've always dreamed of.

What can I do? It's hopeless

My sister found out her fiance's military orders Tuesday and is getting married Sunday. She is trying to keep it traditional despite the super short notice, but we feel like we might forget things. Real simple, small (30 people).
Getting Married in Chapel, to pictures, to Restaurant.
Here's what I've got:
Dress, shoes, Hair, Nails
Rings, Flowers, Chapel and Restaurant Reservations
Vows, and that is really all I can think of.
I want to help her make it special, she's never been married and I don't want her to feel that she's missed out on a real wedding Please any help of things I can do to make it wonderful for her, or things we might be missing. Keep in mind, no reception really, going straight to a restaurant, so she's doesn't need a D.J. or wedd. favors. Thanks
