We are planning on getting married May 24, 2008. He is in the army, currently stationed in Fort Knox, KY but we are both from North Carolina and would like to have a beach wedding. Does anyone have any ideas about how we could have a cheap but nice wedding, because we have no money! We have to pay for it all ourselves, so we want something simple, but unforgetable. Does anyone have any ideas about where we could have the ceremony and reception? We want to have the cermony somewhere on the beach of North Carolina... Thanks!

I got married on the beach in May this year.. Although in Australia, not North Carolina! We had a morning wedding and a morning tea reception with lots of fingers foods and drinks instead of a sit down meal.. There was a beautiful private park near the beach and we decorated and set everything up there. It was nice and relaxed and SO MANY people came up to me and said it was one of the nicest and most enjoyable weddings they had been too.. No being stuck in your chair for hours, everyone was free to mingle and do as they please. It was still a formalish type wedding though, as i wore a classic wedding dress and had five bridesmaids. Outdoor settings are so much more beautful then indoor ones!!

Morning weddings also save on things such as alcohol expenses, as depending on the time of the morning - alot of people wont drink, or wont expect that there will be alcohol at the reception. juices, punch, soft drinks and water are fine for morning weddings. and some champagne for toasting!

I went to a wedding a few years back and they got married at sunrise and had a breakfast reception. If you can get up early enough, sunrise on the beach would be absolutely gorgeous!

Another alternative is sunset on the beach and then have the reception set up on the beach with a bonfire and dancing on the sand. You could have a seafood buffet or something. Aslong as the weather is alright for you - that is what i originally wanted, but the place i got married gets windy in the evenings that time of the year.

Hope that helps you out somewhat..

Hi and congratulations!

I just gave this idea to someone last night. What about having something at a bed and breakfast in the outerbanks? Here is a link to bed and breakfasts in North Carolina that offer weddings. Many do! And, don't be intimidated if you have never been to one....they are not all lace and pink curtains!

This is a cheap option, although many MAY require 1 or 2 nights lodging. Just be sure to check their policies first.

Another idea is to get married right ON the beach. Simple use Google to search out possibilities! Good luck!

Talk to your local parks and recreation department about which beaches you can hold weddings at and if they will allow you to hav ea reception there. They are typically pretty affordable.

As for reception go with a cocktail reception instead of a sit down dinner.

Rent tall cocktail tables and scatter them around, have vases in the middle filled with candles, sea glass and sea shells.

Throw some large pillow on grass matts for people to site if they want.

Get a few fire pits from target to stay warm.

And serve finger foods and simple drinks that remind you of the beach.

Favors of salt water taffy would be cute...

you should get a permit and do in on the beach in Duck or whichever end of the island you are close to and you can have a backyard reception at your home. People dont expect that you have a ton of money and will just be happy to celebrate with you. Encourage your family to bring dishes in a pot-luck style if you are really stuck.

good luck and congrats

Can the JOP meet you on the sea coast so it is undemanding to have a decrease priced, less costly wedding ceremony it extremely is likewise eye-catching? I stay in Va sea coast, and here we've lots of sea coast wedding ceremony applications that permit lots of visitors, furnish the JOP and the decorations and maximum of them take image the marriage too. i comprehend the photos could be somewhat greater advantageous than that's extremely useful to pay while you at the instant are not attempting to spend too lots, yet verify around your section for applications and specific deals. IT extremely may be the main inexpensive in case you have a private ceremony between the two considered one of you, i could no longer think of a JOP might charge too lots to fulfill you on the venue. reliable success and Congratulations :)

Contact people in your area that do non-denominational weddings who are willing to do ceremonies outside of their locations.
