Me and my mom was going over wedding plans and we thought it would be extremely cute to use small pumpkins(gords and such) as the centerpieces at my wedding reception (fall of 08) instead of spending 1000 of more dollars on flowers....

picture this....

in the middle of the table,,,

a small pumpkin surrounded by fall leaves (fake) with some small pine cones and small yellow candles

cute or not??

any more ideas???

how much planning is involved, etc. My fiancee and I are exploring all of our options, we're on a low budget so we're trying to see what's the cheapest and easiest way to go, but we still want to have a few close friends and family there. Any help would be appreciated.

Would you rather have an engagement ring that your fiance goes out and buys or a ring that is a family heirloom... like his grandmothers ring or something?

I'm wondering if $40 seems like a decent wedding gift. I'm a bridesmaid and I've already spent over $350 on the wedding shower, bachelorette party, dress, shoes, etc. I work 2 jobs and am applying to grad school. Deos $40 seem stingy???

Thanks!

I'm starting to plan my wedding and I'm trying to save all of the money I can. My fiance and I are on a VERY tight budget, so I'm trying to get creative. What are some good ideas for food without paying for a catering service?

I'm getting married in exactly one month and am starting to get depressed over the idea that in just one month the most important day of my life will be over with. I know a lot of people get depressed following the wedding because so much effort is put into it and then, POOF, it's over but is it normal to get depressed this early?

It just seems kind of sad that you wait for something your whole life and now that it's right around the corner I have to be ready to let that wiating and anticipation leave. Anyone else ever feel this? I'm excited, of course, but how do you not miss the idea of getting married after you've gotten married?

I have been reading various law on Jewish wedding rings and have seen various mentions of either no stones, no holes, some say no bumps. Some say this is only for the Woman. i have seen a comment about the man's is more traditional more still different. Anyone care to explain? Mine coming is a "Ani Le Dodi" which has the letters cut out. Some others I have seen have raised letters or cut out with backing. Being there is so many places selling these I wonder about the law of this.

Also ancient Jewish wedding rings where HUGE. Like the women's would be of a house, really a metal house on a ring. It would be at least an inch high off the finger.

Anyway please inform me and what designs have you seen?>

Welll it seems that my sweety has been doing some undercover investigation on his own.Shocked the heck out of me! he has chosen these rings as possible contenders:

http://www.avalondiamonds.com/catalog/detail?cid=733&pid=1779

with a diamond like this (Not this exact diamond)

http://www.uniondiamond.com/diamonds/diamonds.php?action_type_id=2&item_id=AA530222&network_id=bd41e7c32c408c633b3a15eabe32f208

The second ring he chose was:

http://www.uniondiamond.com/jewelry/jewelry.php?item_id=913&action_type_id=2&pic_name=&shape_id=

With a one karat radiant cut diamond.

I'm having a hard time deciding. Need opinions please.

My hubby and me never got to dance at our wedding reception, because he hated to dance back then. But weve been taking dance lessons for a few months now and he's really gotten into dancing with me. I LOVE IT! However, with our anniversary coming up.. We need a special song to reflect our marriage, love, respect for each other, and to celebrate our 10 years as a married couple. I'm not sure what to choose. I'm the more vocal of us two (as you can tell). My hubby is not as vocal as I am. He says he doesn't care just as long as he gets to dance with me. :) Please don't say "In the Navy" by the Village People. I've heard that one all ready. Any suggestions would be helpful.

My wedding was this past weekend... the cake that I had asked for from the baker was NOT the cake that ended up at the reception. The baker was a friend of a family member of the groom... we had never met her before so she was a neutral party. We had discussed that we would put a $200 deposit and another $200 would be paid after we saw the cake (a tip would be added to that if we absolutely loved it). The cake that was there was not what I asked for... the icing was basketweave which I absolutely hate and definitely did not ask for (I did specify what I did want)... so I was horrified.

The day after the wedding, the family member (not the baker) showed up at my hotel and made a huge scene in front of family and friends demanding $500 for the cake. Of course I said no and that I would need to speak with the baker to determine what should be paid... they refused to let me speak with her and started yelling and cursing.

I am toying with the idea of a Halloween Wedding. In just two years - - - Oct 31, 2009 - - - will be a Saturday! The date works perfectly into our schedule.
I need to have a Saturday wedding as people will be travelling and be staying overnight.
My concern is for the few people with younger kids whose kids might be upset at attending rather than going Trick or Treating. I've guestimated that there will be about 10 kids attending.
I would like to know your thoughts. Do I go ahead with it and maybe appease the kids (give them bags of candy, let them wear their costumes, etc) or do I wait a year, have my theme but do it on Oct 30th?

I see so many questions about who to invite, how to decide to invite, to a wedding. Here is a thought. If a couple is limited to a certain number of invitations, invite who really wants to come. If people are gung-ho and dying to be invited, invite them. If someone closer seems lukewarm and you get the feeling they don't care, do them a favor and don't invite them. I have been invited to weddings and declined, and sometimes accepted, that I felt it would have been easier not to be invited. Where I had no idea why they would invite me.

What do you all think?

I don't like any of the pre-made wedding music, so I am burning a CD to play at the chapel. The ceremony is supposed to start at 10. What time should the music start?? How many songs/how long should it be?? And how long do you think the song for the walk down the aisle needs to be? Thanks so much in advance! =)

My 12 year old niece is going to be one of the junior bridesmaids but lately hasn't been acting good. She trashes every dress idea I show her, refuses to carry the flowers I picked, back talks me and is just plain rude. My brother has talked to her sevral times as well as his wife and she still acts like a brat. In school she hasn't been doing to well either, bad grades and fights. I want her to stay in the wedding. What should I do? HELP!
