I am looking for relatively inexpensive bridesmaid gowns (like under $150), but not David's Bridal or Alfred Angelo. Any suggestions?

If you want more specifics, I am looking for cocktail/knee length dresses with either spaghetti straps or a tank-style top. I would like either organza or satin. Thanks!

My wedding theme is poetry. I suggested that we have poetry performed at the reception. My fiance wants (in addition to the poetry) a praise dance performance at the reception as well. I think that this is a bit much for a wedding that is themed on poetry. What's your take on having this very holy addition to the reception

to have the traditional "gift" table made out of hey bails? I want the reception to be fun and memorable but not rediculously tacky.

Okay... so im planning my ceremony to be around sunset on the beach ...and for the date i've picked, sunset is around 8pm. The ceremony will probably be 20 min then like 30 min for pictures. So, dinner would not be until 9pm... should I make it a dessert reception only, have dessert reception and have dinner before the ceremony, or just have a dinner reception? Also, if the dinner before the ceremony, should it be at a resturant with a few close relatives like parents and siblings or should it be on the beach buffet style with everyone invited? Also, it would be a saturday, the weekend before memorial day, and in michigan... Oh, if it helps it is between 2-3 hours to drive for guests...THANKS!

***Its just soo interesting for me. Were most of you like after your 20.s or before? I'm curious about it,. Im 19 btw.

--And i wonder..when people get married..do you still have the same feeling for each other as it used to be?

--Like you could've been crazy, (so in love) for eachother..not imagine your life without him/her...n has it stayed the same way til now.??
Or things change after marriage.
--Do you sometimes feel as if it would be better to wait longer,? Or do you think that you could have much more happiness, if you werent married,..or have an eye on someone,..but you cant show. Do you feel as if you really wanna get away..but take sacrifice for your kids..just to keep the family together.?
Thank you soo much for your answers.

I'm doing a research project on punjabi weddings and I hardly use the internet so I have difficulty paraphrasing stuff that I find. Besides, english is my second language and I cannot do it properly. So, if you can, please paraphrase the following paragraph for me. thanks.

here is the paragraph. much love for all of you. hope all of you live a prosperous and healthy life.

Shaadi: A granthi or the holy man is usually in charge of the marriage ceremony. The ceremony begins with an explanation of the importance of marriage. The couple then show they agree to be married by bowing to the Guru Granth Sahib. Then the bride's father ties the bride's chunni to the groom's scarf to symbolise her departure from the bride's family to join the groom's family. A marriage hymn of four verses, the 'Lavan, written by the Sikh teacher Guru Ram Das, is then sung. To symbolise their support, the relatives help the bridal couple to walk around the Guru Granth Sahib after each verse of the hymn has been sung. The couple is declared married at the completion of the fourth round. Throughout the ceremony, hymns are sung and prayers are said for the future happiness of the newly-weds. The hidaayat or niyams - their duties and responsibilities towards each other as man and wife, and also towards their elders - are now recited to the couple. Final prayers are then said and sweets, Karah parshad, made from flour and sugar, are distributed to the people present to seek God's blessings for the new couple. Relatives and friends garland the newly-wedded couple and present gifts. A meal follows, either at the Gurdwara if the ceremony has taken place there, or at the bride's house.

My friend is getting married, and she really wants sleeveless bridesmaid dresses. One of the other bridesmaids is mormon, so she does not want to wear a sleeveless dress. The bride does not want to single out one person, nor does she want everyone to wear jackets. Does anyone have a suggestion about how to make our mormon friend fit in with a wedding party wearing sleeveless dresses? Thanks!

A friend of mine has a now-ex whom everyone despised. This made me think: what is the etiquette of inviting a friend and not their relatively serious significant other to a wedding?

Keep in mind this is not a significant other who we just find irritating. This is someone who was emotionally abusive to our friend, and would have ruined the fun for everyone present by being incredibly insulting to us all.

Not everyone on the list is getting "and guest." Only those in serious relationships.

Thanks!

Brides, grooms too-- when your wedding day was over, how did you feel about the fact that your Special Day was gone, and was never going to happen again? That you were back to being an ordinary person like anyone else?

Was it a huge letdown and did you sink into depression? Or were you able to cope with it? Did you ever truly get over it?

Our wedding is on a Friday so that we can go away for the weekend on our honeymoon. I really want to have the wedding at about 2pm but I know that some people work in the morning, so would it better to have it at night like at 6? I just don't know if I should assume that everyone can take the day off of work. What do you think?

My fiance and I want to ask our best friends (another couple we are always with) to be our Best Man and Matron of Honor in our wedding.

Does anyone have any fun and unique ideas for asking them? We don't want to do the boring dinner thing. We're all very goofy and would appreciate some cool ideas!

Thanks

My friend and I were discussing having a double wedding, and I know that there are lots of things to consider and sort out, and I'm sure that I can't even begin to see all the challenges yet... Before I decide to do this, I was hoping that I could get some opinions on pros and cons to the situation... Thanks!

well...me and my boyfriend have been together for 3 years next weekend and we love eachother very very much. i feel the next step would be to commit. however we are both 19 nearly twenty and i dont know what his family would think if we did get engaged as we have been talking about it. i feel as though his family would not be happy with this decision. i just want things to work out for us without interference.

So my wedding is tomorrow and yesterday my fiance and I had a long talk about whether it was the right thing to do or not. We had this talk about 4 months ago and decided we still wanted to get married. She told me she doesn't feel like she's completely in love with me anymore. We've been together for 4 years and just recently bought a house together. Our relationship has puttered out since we got engaged though. Things seem awkward sometimes and everyday communication feels like were forcing it. I feel like I'm trying so hard everyday to make her love me like she used to though which might be making it worse.

I think we let things like the wedding and house get in the way of showing each other how much we love each other over the last 2 years. Im worried she doesn't love me as much as I love her anymore though.

I think cold feet could be some of it but how can I be sure we're doing the right thing.

I'm in this wedding in January. The bride-to-be is a woman that I work with. She asked me to be in the wedding and I said yes but then again how would you say "no" to something like that when you are caught off guard. We have only known each other for a few months. Now when I see her she pretty much acts like she doesn't know me-when I'm in a group of people she makes eye contact with all but me. She's just different-someone I would not choose as a friend. She is very conceited and acts like she is better than everyone. Just a different personality-one that I don't "mesh" with at all. I try to be friendly to/with her but she doesn't really respond to it. i so wish I was not involved in her big day because I am poor and this is costing me a pretty penny. I have given her a generous shower gift, paid dearly for my dress, paid my share for the elaborate shower and she's like this to me? How do I get through this? Just go through the motions until the whole thing is over?

I'm going to David's Bridal today with my bridesmaids to look at dresses for them. Should my fiance go with us? It's his wedding too, and I want him to be involved with the planning of it. Did your fiance go with you to look at bridesmaid dresses or is this something that only the girls should do?

Hi. I am just wondering if any bride experienced a similar situation -- I am 5'5" and my fiance is 6'1", so I was planning to wear a reasonably high heel for my wedding (maybe 2 1/2 inches or so). I think I have found the perfect wedding gown, but if I order it in the regular length, it is still too long (even with a 4 inch heel). I would need to pay at least $150 to have it altered.

If I order it in the petite length, I could only wear a 1 1/2 inch heel, which means I'm saving money, but I'm stuck being short on my wedding day.
