My boyfriend (now fiance) just asked me to marry him on Monday. He got me a really nice ring (which I love so much) but more importantly were getting married ,and im super excited. I have always thought its weird that guys get nothing for asking a girl to marry them, and I remember when we first started dating, he mentioned the same. So I want to buy him a nice gift, especially since i have the money for it right now (a great time). I dont want to get him a watch because I know he might not ever wear it. I want to get him like a ring maybe? But if I got him one for his wedding finger, then he would have 2 bands by the time that the wedding comes around (a wedding band on the day I say I do). He wore my class ring on his pinky for the past 6 months, until it broke wear it had been resized when I bought it...would a pinky ring be weird? Ughhh im at such a loss for ideas...

I think its a great idea!
My BF & I are discussing getting engaged so I know its coming, but not when. When he finally does decide to pop the question, I've got a little gift for him!
It is a private joke, of sorts, but he'll love it - - I've got a monogrammed flask already at home in a box.
All he has to do is ask me and he's getting that.

i think an engagement gift is a fabulous idea!!! ok... so, no watch... but he would wear a ring? what about a bracelet? or is that to much like wearing a watch? what about a necklace/chain to wear around his neck or a new really cool cell phone?? what about sports? does he like sports? maybe purchase him some home game tickets... or a new laptop computer?? i am not to crazy about the ring unless of course he doesn't mind wearing it on the opposite hand once he gets his wedding band... i would just hate for the ring you buy today to be put aside when the wedding band comes into play....

If he has shown his willingness to wear a ring go ahead and get him one. He could always move the ring to another finger or his other hand after the wedding if he wishes.

If he has a job where he wears a suit you could get cuff links. I bought my fiance a nice key chain watch from redenvelope.com, they have some very nice gifts and they aren't too expensive either.

There's nothing wrong with getting a ring, but you're right, he probably won't be wearing it anymore once you two get married (unless he continues to wear it in place of the wedding band). I don't think many guys would ever want to wear more than one ring anyway. I know it sounds cheesy, but I think your love and your attention is the best gift you could ever give him. I know my husband could care less about rings, but he loves it when I scratch his back and make his favorite dinner.

I bought my now husband something. He is a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan so I got him awesome tickets and a new jersey for him to wear to the game. Something thoughtful. I don't think the ring is a great idea b/c he will be getting the wedding band on the day of the wedding. Think about something that he would be shocked if you got him something that he thinks is important and you don't pay much attention to, show him that you do by getting him something that ties into it!!!!

I would get him a beautiful pinky ring with a diamond in the center. Something really nice. Also another idea is a great neck chain in 14K gold. Men usually like that. But the fact that he wore your class ring on his pinky would indicate that he probably would love a man's 14K gold pinky ring. Go for it.

My husband is an avid fisherman. However, he already has every type of equipment imaginable and I knew anything I chose would not be right or he would already have. I gave him a Olympus 770SW camera. It is waterproof and shatter proof, so he doesn't have to worry about dropping it in the water or on rocks. I also gave it to him before the wedding, so he also had it to take lots of pictures of our wedding and honeymoon. He loved it and he was totally surprised.

My girlfriend bought her fiance an engagement ring as well. Take him off the market, girl!
