Im getting married next month and we're just having a ceremony and a nice dinner for close friends and family. we're not having a reception/dance or anything. Just gonna go out to eat at a nice restaurant after the ceremony. Do you think its ok to wear my bridal gown to the restaurant or would it be too weird?

I was married just about 3 years ago (in Nov) and we were married in a garden by the beach and we had a small nice dinner for friends and family right after. No one changed and my husband and I wore our wedding gear to the restaurant. We didn't feel weird at all! In fact everyone was super nice- and I had a fairly traditional gown on.

It's your day so enjoy it.

I got married about 7 months ago and did the same thing. I had the ceremony and then went to a restaurant for dinner with 25 to 30 close people. I actually wore two different dresses. It will look wierd wearing your bridal gown to the restaraunt you should get a nice dress other then ur bridal gown...

If you're comfortable doing it, then do so. If your gown is a ball gown, and overly cumbersome, you might want to reconsider it, simply because of space issues. But if it's a slimmer style like a sheath you probably will be fine. You might want to go to the restaurant you're considering, and see how your dress would work in their space. Look at how closely tables are set together, think about moving between the tables in your gown. While you want to wear it as long as possible, you also don't want it to get ruined. You could also see if the restaurant has a private room or section that would accommodate your party--make the reservation in advance.
Congrats and good luck!

I think it depends upon the size and style. Just because it would be a pain to deal with a large bridal gown, or a train in a restaurant setting.

I don't think it would be weird. I'm engaged and planning my wedding for next summer. At this point I think we might do a nice family dinner after the wedding since we cannot afford much else. I personally would wear my dress as long as i possibly could. Get my money's worth out of it ya know. And it would just make me feel special since it is my special day. You will probably have to bribe me to get out of the dress.. lol

My parents did the same thing, and yes, my mom wore her wedding dress to the restaurant, and even on the drive to the hotel at the beach where they spent the night. Not weird at all.

You should wear it to the restaurant. It would be weird if you didnt. As a guest, I like to ooh and ahh and get a few pictures of the bride & groom.

If you have the restaurent reserve only for you and your friends and family then yes go ahead and wear the dress. but if there will be other people at the restaurent , then it will look kind weird.

In my opinion, definitely wear it!

When else can you wear the dress you've been dreaming about wearing and waiting to wear for so long???

This is your day, and it's great to let others know it! People won't think it's weird... they'll be thrilled, I'm sure!

But do what makes you feel most comfortable. It is your day after all!

Best wishes!

I guess whatever you will be comfortable in. A lot of women change out of their wedding dress and buy a reception dress. The choice is yours. We are having a reception and I will be wearing my wedding dress.
