Just wondering if anyone else has had difficulty with the site like I have? I tried to make my wedding web page and was unable to view it for almost a week because they couldn't tell me what was wrong with it. I signed up to be on their boards to talk and ask questions, and it's like a 10 step process! It seems like they just can't make anything easy! Bah!

More like a rant than a question, but anyone else have difficulties?

I've found them useful mostly for dress ideas, that's about it. :-(

I wouldn't say I hate The Knot, but it hasn't been nearly as helpful as I thought it would be.
- For one thing, all the 'in your area' vendors they list for my city are the most expensive ones in town - such as the bridal salons whose gowns start at $3000!
- I've also found that almost all the information there is geared toward people who are Christian or Jewish and want a big. traditional religious ceremony. While we are a minority, non-religious people do exist and get married. Also...there are religious people besides Christians and Jews (i.e. my groom's family is Hindu). So...I haven't found any helpful hints on how to do our non-religious, multicultural ceremony.
- Checklists and such are not very useful for a non-traditional wedding... meaning, the checklist has tons of stuff that's completely irrelevant to me (see previous point)
- I'm a software engineer, and I think that there are tons of ways to improve both performance and navigation on their website. It's definitely not as user-friendly as it should be.

You also have to consider that the Knot is part of a whole wedding industry that wants to sell you as many goods and services as possible, regardless of whether you need them. Lots of things they offer fall into the category of 'extra crap you don't need'.

....my 2 cents!

I found the entire wedding industry is about spending money. There should be something available for brides so they're not taken advantage due to money hungry vendors.

I felt the entire wedding industry has made it very frustrating for brides. Everything is overpriced, the vendors take advantage of weddings that may be planned fast (like mine), they lie to make money. Lots of promises, but may not come through as planned.

I worked in television for 3 years and a bridal magazine for 2 years and if I were to come up with a show concept. It would be on practical ideas for brides without spending too much and not be taken advantage of while planning a wedding.

Yeah, the Knot just isn't that helpful. I just logged on today for the first time in months and as I was going down the checklist, I was so overwhelmed by the many tasks they recommend for your wedding! It's like their goal is to make sure that your wedding is expensive and exactly the same as everyone elses.

I found http://www.projectwedding.com and Martha Stewart Weddings to be the most helpful.

I did not have any problems with theknot.com. I created my wedding web page in a few minutes. I've asked guests to RSVP on the site and it seems to be working well too.

I didn't like them. Any suggestions they had for flowers, dresses, gifts, ect. were like the most exspensive top of the line items they could find. Sometimes I felt like I "didn't belong" because I wasn't spending a million dollars on my wedding.

I enjoyed www.brides.com. It was easy for me to find and you can sign up for daily tips to be emailed to you, some of which I found very helpful. They have an amazing checklist that helps you stay on track and I never had any issues using the forum to ask other brides questions I had.

Sorry to say that I love the knot.com. It has been soo helpful. I really enjoy there guest list and gift tracker. Plus there a seating chart, payment tracker, time line checklist. I actually found my Ceremony and reception site, invites, and some of my flower arrangements there. If you need any help with it let me know I be glad to help you. Best wishes in planing your special day!!

I have had no problems with them. I made my web page on their, granted it took me a couple of days to complete, but that was because I kept changing things. I like the fact that my out of town invitees who can't come can log on and sign our guest book. I also used their guest list and it made making my seating for the reception a heck of a lot easier.

I hate them because they spread horrible etiquette myths, and people follow the awful advice in their poorly-written articles and then go make fools of themselves.

I would not put my wedding webpage on their site anyhow, because they automatically connect your webpage to your registries (because they make money because those gift stores are their advertisers!) when it is actually bad manners to have links to registry info on your wedding webpage. Maybe you should try weddingannouncer.com or somewhere else, where that "automatic registry connection" thing isn't an issue.

my main rant about them is that they take a LONG time to upload (due to all the photos, etc.). That can be annoying. And they could use to update their articles once in a while.
That, and the messageboards can be a bit unfriendly.

Otherwise, they have a lot of good ideas.

nicely no offense yet you're being snobbish interior the asking of your guy or woman question.? You in actuality stated that something not interior the charts is undesirable song! Lol, umm there is classical song, jazz etc the two one in each and every of which take lots extra paintings and dedication to upward thrust as much as customary (in case you play them of direction) so who're you to assert what solid song is? I propose I do accept as true with you on thr relax of your question... its merely that section that bugged me somewhat... :) solid success with them anyhow
