We're getting married in 2 weeks and trying to iron out tipping issues. Any advice on how much to tip (if at all) each vendor/contract would be much appreciated:

Photographer
Wedding cake (for delivery - we do pay a delivery fee)
DJ
String quartet
Pastor
Bartenders (we pay per person per hour + 18% gratuity - tip above and beyond?)
Caterer (we pay 18% gratuity - tip above and beyond?)
Florist

We are also going to provide dinner for the photographer and DJ. Is this usually what is done? Thanks in advance!

Just to add - the gratuities that I stated are added in as part of our contracts. Thanks again!

Since some of the gratuities are already stated in your contract I would not tip above and beyond unless the service calls for it.

For the wedding cake delivery I wouldn't worry about it because you will not even be there to greet the delivery person.

For all the others the tip should really depend on the service. If the service/performance was really amazing then go ahead and tip. If not their normal fee should be fine.

You do want to make sure you tip your limo driver though especially if they do a good job. 18% seems like a good number to go by.

It is up to you on whether you want to provide any of the vendors with a meal, but it is not unusual to do so.

I was recently married & for tips we:
Photogapher - tbd
Cake Delivery - 0 (included in delivery fee)
DJ - $100
Pastor - $100
Bartender - $50 (he made alot in other tips)
Caterer - included gratuity is enough

We did provide dinner for the photographer & the DJ too.

Hope this helps you a little

You're covered. But you will most likely pay a delivery and set up fee for your cake. We also provided dinner for any vendor that was there. Be sure to pay the pastor but you don't need to tip him.

I agree with the previous post, I think your getting ahead of yourself. I didn't tip any of my vendors because I payed more than enough to keep these vendors in business. Also, wait and see what happens. Especially the photographers, how will the proofs come out, along with albums.

I am not American so I never understood about your tipping but can I just say why do you have to give extra money when you are already paying for their service? It's not like they aren't getting money from you already?! If what you are paying is in your contract, leave it at that, Any more is excessive and way unnecessary. They just want to get even more money from you and it's greedy. If they do a good job, just say a hear-felt 'thank you' which is much more meaningful than money.

they are charging enough
Pastor, if he is charging a fee
