Needing some help. My sister asked me to be her maid of honer and of course i accepted. Only thing is, it's not really a big wedding, i'm the only bridesmaid, and i need a dress. I'm a bigger person like 250lbs. I'm on a diet to lose weight and it's working well. I'd say i will lose at least another 50 maybe more before the wedding. Its still a year away. Her colors are light and dark pink. I dont like to show my arms much and i cant find a website that has the dresses like i want. Anyone have some sites they can give me to go to that i can find a dress that will fit and covers the arms? Tried Davids bridal and JCPenny. Thanks in advance!

We have been living in my in-laws residence since before we were married. My question is would it be ok for us to have a household shower?? We don't have alot of the household things that we really need, so we thought of having a shower. Any input would be great. THANKS & God Bless!!

We are looking to have around 150 guests. The wedding reception is near alexandria so we would like to keep the ceremony near that same area. The wedding is scheduled for October of 2008. If possible we would like to have the cermony in a church.

Neither of us are active members of a church. My fiancee was raised Catholic and I was raised Christian. If possible we would like to not have to join the church, but it's not a must. We do not want to promise to raise our kids in a certain religion.

I'm trying to find nice, designer, discount wedding shoes. But, I wear a small size (5) and can't seem to find anything that I really like in a decent price range online. Does anyone know of any good websites or any good shops in the Monmouth/Ocean County NJ area?

Thanks!

The couple are friends of my parents, they are both getting married for the second time and have tons of stuff and 3 kids, they are not registered anywhere.

What should I get for a gift and how much should I be spending? Is it appropriate to get a combined gift with my brother? we are both in our young twenties and single, but will be bringing dates to the wedding, what price range should I look at if we get a combined gift and what would be good?

Any ideas are appreciated. Thank you!!

is having an adults only reception/dinner. We will not be attending, due to lack of a baby sitter. We do plan on attending the ceremony, but will not be attending the reception. I am wondering what value of a gift we should give. We are not particularly close to this niece.

This one's an easy answer for all the happy couples =]
So my boyfriend and I have been together for 3 and a half years and we are so happy. Both of us are in college. He has 3 years left(5-yr major) and I have until this August(2-yr major.) We compliment each other so well and get along like 99% of the time. I have a promise ring, which means a lot to me. We talk about our future all the time (wedding, house, family etc.) and we cannot wait until we are out of school. He always tells me he may pop the big question his last yr of school (we also talked about waiting about a yr after so he can settle and save...) A few days ago his roomate took me aside and tole me he can tell how much my bf loves me, it made me feel so good about our relationship. He has made me so happy...
So... I just thought it would be fun to hear other people's stories about how they were together for a long time, through college, and ended up married, etc. So share your stories, I'd love to hear them, have fun!!

my boyfriend is getting me a promise ring, and we saw a beautiful one with tiny diamonds around the whole band. it's a wedding ring though, and it looks like one. do you think it really matters that it looks like a wedding ring? if you saw it would you automatially think 'wedding ring'?

Even though I was invited to the wedding, I don't think it is necessary for me to attend. I think it is sacreligious, since I still love the person, and I hate the "witch" that he is marrying. Should I attend, or should I ignore him altogether?

My girlfriend and I have been dating for almost a year to the day. We've officially been together since November. My plan is to give her a promise ring on our anniversary. I have every intention of marrying her when the time is right. She still has some college ahead of her, so I don't want to complicate her getting her degree by getting her preoccupied with wedding planning.

Her parents seem to like me just fine. I know her mom really likes me a lot, her dad... doesn't hate me, he's just really quiet around me. I'm thinking it's that his daughter is his only child, and he's not too happy at the thought of her one day being gone from home. One of the unfortunate things is that he holds his courtship with his wife against us at times (they were together for 7 years before getting married, but they started dating at 15, she was almost 19, I was 22. ) I'm wondering if it would be better for me to talk to them about it first or not, and if so, what to say to them. Thanks!

a friend is going to Vegas and is wondering whether it would be proper ethiquet to ask the girls to pay for their hotel rooms. They will all be driving from LA to Vegas already, so would asking them to help pay be too much, or would it be appropriate since they are already doing her the honor and joining her for such a joyous event? please advice . Thank you all in advance.

i have read on here that it is bad ediquet (sp?) to put in invitations where you are registered, but i registered at Macy's and they sent me a packet with little cards to put in the invitations to let people know I am registered there. Why would they do that if it is known not to do that? should I use them?

so my mom is paying for the wedding, and she has said that she doesnt want "children" there because i have a few cousins. but my fiance has a small family and his 2 cousins are the only people we know young enough to be the ring bearer and flower girl.
i kinda had a falling out with my dads side of the family when they got divorced, i was just kinda lost to them since we lived far away, but a few months back i was invited to a surprise party for my grandfather and most of my cousins were there. and we all got along really well. we cought up talked about life and i felt like i really reconnected with them. my mom says if i one of them, then i have to do all of them. i dont feel like thats true. i'm really close now to my dads brothers 3 girls, but i havent seen his sisters daughter in well over 10 years so i wouldnt invite her anyways.
ettiquite wise, would it be ok to invite some cousins and not others, even if i invite all the parents? some live at home with the parents...

My bf and I have been going back and forth over this. He is the groomsmen for one of his best friend's wedding, and I've gotten quite close to both the groom and bride. I've also been getting into scrapbooking lately, and would love to scrapbook a page for them and frame it. It would be on 12x12 paper and in a special scrapbooking frame. I think we will probably pair it with another gift, perhaps off the registry, but I think it would be enough on its own. My bf thinks not, because he says the gift should be as much as our dinner at the wedding, but I think with the time I would take to make the gift, as well as the cost of the materials, (which can get pretty pricey!!) as well as the special handmade factor, it would be even. What do you think?

Couple A was invited. Couple A threw a fit that their adult children couple B need to be invited. After two cancellations, couple B would be invited but it's too close to the wedding now to send another invite. So I called couple B and they have not returned my call. Couple A sent back their RSVP card but I was told that they WILL NOT come (from my fiance's mom) without couple B since they don't drive.
So Do I-
1. Keep Calling Couple B to come.
(couple B and A live in the same house)
Or
2. Say Screw it and just Toss out Couple A RSVP and hope they don’t show.

If your answer is 1, how many times do you call before your like screw it!?
These are my fiancé Uncle’s family that he hasn’t seen in 5 years- they came by that one time in 5 years to show off their brand new truck and the time before that makes it 10.
So we don’t care if they come or not. I think they are not returning my call so they can show me just how insulted they are.

saturday i went to look at dresses for my friends wedding and her cousin is in the bridal party. we were told to bring the shoes we are going to wear (she already told us she wants us to wear silver heels) and her cousin showed up wearing 5 inch silver shoes with a chrome mirror heel and that lace up to halfway up her calf...they resemble exotic dancing shoes and are not wedding approppriate. my friend told her she couldnt wear them and the girl threw a fit saying that the bride is just jealous of her looks and basically said that she was NOT going to tone down her "sexiness" (her words not mine) just to appease the bride..it would be one thing if she had a long dress but the bridesmaids dresses are knee length so she wont look classy...my friend wants to disinvite her completely but her mom said family is obligated and she has to come..she isnt the MOH so it wont be a huge issue to uninvite her..what would u do?
