The couple are friends of my parents, they are both getting married for the second time and have tons of stuff and 3 kids, they are not registered anywhere.

What should I get for a gift and how much should I be spending? Is it appropriate to get a combined gift with my brother? we are both in our young twenties and single, but will be bringing dates to the wedding, what price range should I look at if we get a combined gift and what would be good?

Any ideas are appreciated. Thank you!!

A combined gift would be a great idea! I would spend as much I could afford and not go over $100 per person.
Maybe an hour couple massage or half day at the spa would be nice? Or if they are registered somewhere you could get them a gift card to that store? Or if they are "dinner and a movie" people, maybe a gift card to a nicer restaurant and two tickets to a movie or theater show?

It is definately ok to do a combined gift. Since you are both bringing dates, i would stick to the $200-300 range, if you are comfortable with that. If you feel that is too high, get whatever you can afford, i'm sure they will be grateful no matter what and nobody expects 20 somethings to be made of money. How about something that they might not splurge for themselves liek a GPS system (you can get a good one at Best Buy for only 250) or a gift card would be good. You can get an American Express card that they can use anywhere or maybe a hotel or airline gift card if they are going on a honeymoon. Whatever you get will be appreciated I am sure.

Grab a expensive bottle of wine and some nice glasses they alway come in handy! Your parents may have an idea of what they would like?

You both young and with 2nd marriages most couples really dont expect any gift as they already have every thing
I say $60 each So no more then $120 is more them enough!

Oh to the poster above me hon read what she said they are not registered anywhere!

I went to a wedding recently for my friend's mother, second wedding for both. I knew they already had the typical household items that are normal wedding gifts. I got them a gift certificate to a nice restaurant in their area, thinking it is something they could do together. I usually give about $100, so more if you're combining?

A gift certificate to a store you know they like. It's like being registered and you can never go wrong w/ a gift card Right? Or something really personalized if you feel the giftcard thing won't work for them. GL

How close are YOU to your parent's friends?

You could combine a gift with your brother and your dates.

If you are not close, $20 each. If you are close $50 each. (Not including your dates, unless your dates know the couple getting married).
