I wonder if my brother's life is better than mine. I know that I should be concentrating on my own life and trying to improve it.

My brother is 6 years younger than mine. He is happily married and has two children (daughter is 6 and son is 4). He has a good paying, professional job and is doing well in his career.

He and his family have hobbies together since they go camping every weekend and then go hiking, biking, fishing, etc.

He does have health issues since he has juvenile diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. He is now going through the complications of diabetes (effect on kidneys, eyes and feet). He lives paycheck to paycheck.

I look at my own life. I am divorced. My daughter does not live with me and probably does not want to have anything to do with me. My ex-husband constantly pressures me to come back to him.

I am lonely at times. I do work full-time and am better off financially. I am trying to keep busy, but.....

we recently moved in a house by my husbands grandma, and his newphew and his mom live with her. His sister will call and ask us if he can come over or he will ask if we are over there, if he can he come over. my hubby doesn't think to ask me 1st if it will be okay and tells him if his mom don't care. it's not only coming over here that bothers me. it is also that if we are going somewhere he will ask to go with us and my husband has allowed it. i told my husband that i wasn't going to move in this house because his newphew would be over everyday. he said "no he want." but its not working out like that. his newphew misbehaves sometimes and all he wants to do is get on my hubby's ps game and all i want is quite family time. i done confronted my husband about it and he seems to feel bad because his newphew doesn't know who his daddy is. am i being wrong by asking my hubby to not let him come over as much. what would you do?

A parent has visitation-only rights, and for his full week this summer, he is leaving his 12-year old alone in his trailer all week while he is at work for 11 hours per day. I understand this is wrong for the obvious reasons, but is the parent breaking any laws by doing this? Can this threaten his future visitation rights if taken to the courts?

My mom is a 57 year old widow(dad died 7 years ago) and I am her only child. Even though I am 30 years old myself, she still sometimes treasts me like a dumb teenager who doesn't know any better. She dissapproved of my last girlfriend and would snoop through my home to look for evidence of things getting serious with us, like we were going to secretly elope or something. What can I do??? I know she loves me and just wants whats best but she has to trust me on making my own decisions too and she has no right to go through my things(she claims to have every right to do so because its in my best interests)

I know I need to tell them, but I'm afriad of them. I get in trouble over stuff I couldn't control, they always say I'm not responsible enough. I'm never good enough, but that sisn't bug me cause they had no reason to say it. Now they do. They're use this agianst me forever. I just don't know what to do. It's gonna cost me so money to get new ones, and I can't get a job. I'm just so scared right now. I've already went through everything in my room, and cleaned every draw so when my dad tears through it, he won't get mad about the mess, but what else can I do? Please help me.

My husband and I wanted to go on a cruise for our anniversary, it's for 5 days, our son will be about a year and half when we go, we would leave him with my mother and sister who watch him for me everyday anyway when I'm at work. So you think that is too long to leave him, should we find another place to go that we can take him? I know we will miss him.

Ok my mom takes care of my dads step father..he had a stroke about 10 years ago and hes had colon cancer..he is peg tube fed and is on a colostomy bag my mom has been back and forth to the hospital with him for about 10 years now.she has put up with him being rebellious, she recently had stomach cancer and is now in remission my dad hurt his back at work and now is disable he got steel rods in his back. My mom constantly worries aboout my stepgrandfather she continues to lose weight as well because she goes without eating being up at the hospital ..It seems as if she puts my dads stepfather first before anyone else I guess my question is am i being mean and selfish if i tell her she needs to put my step grandfather in a nursing home and focus more on her own health and enjoying the rest of her life as a grandmother.. my wife and i just had our second kid and she's maybe seen him twice.how do i go about showing her the big picture without hurtin her feelings.. Thanks for your comments

Here's the situation. My fiance and I have a 18 month old daughter. He wants me to get a job so bad he can't see straight. I would love to make more money for us but I don't see that its worth it. If I were to get a job making $8.50 an hour (which is what I've been offered) and work 40 hrs a week I would roughly make $340 a week before taxes. So take out taxes and benefits then it would be about $275. So around here full time daycare costs $175 to $200 a week. So that knocks me down to $75- $100 a week in profit. let's not forget how much gas costs now too. I would easily spend $30 - $50 a week in gas. So to me its not worth it for me to pay someone else to raise my child for me to make less than $50 a week. Help me explain this to him, he is so dead set on me working he doesn't understand what I'm trying to tell him.

Ok before we go any further we are NOT over protective parents. Our 18 year old daughter got engaged to a 22 year old guy and his family. Yes I mean his family, they are bleeding her dry, she is in love with him, they are in love with her money. She moved out of our home and into his trailer, with his mother , brother and sister in laws kids , not to his brother. They are living in filth and taking money from her in the "name of her new family and God"
As her parents we need to try and break this up, but we have no idea where to start. She is 18 so she controls her trust fund, she has abandoned her younger sister, her horses, and us.
She has a very nice life ahead of her and is flushing it down the toilet right now.
HERE IS MY QUESTION HOW DO I GET HIM TO DUMP HER, WITHOUT HER KNOWING WE ARE BEHIND IT
Please help with some ideas

My sister & brother in law have recently separated after a rocky 20 year marriage. My sister has coped really well, bought her own place, new job, new start.....my brother in law however has really shocked me. We were all really close and he knew there were no bad feelings towards him at all but he has just distanced himself completely. I have a young son who is their ownly nephew and he has not tried to see him at all. I kept contacting my brother in law but he would never call back and always had excuses for seeing us. I just find it hard to understand how he can go six months without phoning once. My son has now stopped mensioning his Uncle and i just feel i shouldnt bother with him either. I did my best to keep contact but he hasnt made the slightest effort at all. It's his birthday today but i have decided not to send a card. Do you think i'm doing right? I'm not gonna change my mind now, just interested in what others would do in that situation.

So I have this vaca planned for the last week in Aug to go to the Dominican Republic. Sadly my stepmom is rather sick and is in the hospital right now with walking pneumonia & she was found with a dangerously low white cell count, they are testing her for lupus, leukemia, and any other disease that may be associated with that. Final payment due in two weeks (30 days defore departure) and even though she is recovering well from the pneumonia, I believe that we should cxl the trip b/c of her other illness. I just don't feel that it would be a wise decision for her to take a flight and run the risk of getting ill in DR. Let's be honest the hospitals are not the same, and it's even risky for a healthy to get sick due to the water and food over there. She is still very gun ho about going but with her condition it's not a guarantee. I want to cxl now so that we can get our $ back, but she says no that she will be fine, even though the doc can't give a def answer. Risk it or play safe?

i'm 21, he's 16.

he doesn't really bother about school and mingling with some bad company.

he's in constant fighting with my mum.

he's just ok at home, but we hardly know his real life actually, the friends come to house sometimes.

i just want to be close to him without making him feel annoyed.
specifically, i would like him to be more responsible about school.

if his behaviour improves, i'm happier. i'm the eldest sister.

Tonight my 2 year old sister woke up in the middle of the night and wouldnt stop crying. As she was crying and throwing a fit she said she had to go to the bathroom but a second later she peed her pants all over my kitchen floor.

Then my mom yelled at her. She then said "clean yourself up, your disgusting." My sister kept crying and started saying "Mommy I want you". My mom then replied to her by saying " I dont even want to look at you."

She said these things not meanly but, disgusted like. But, I still know what kind of trama this can cause a kid. And when she said these things it upset me.

Should I say something to my mom about what she is saying to my little sister?
And then what would I say to her?
Do I have a right to be mad about this?
