She has a genetic disorder and is not at the normal level of a 2 y/o. She has little speach(not due to the passy) but due to her cleft palate. She will be having surgery on it soon to close it. She wants it all the time. She cannot understanding me telling her she can't have it. She doesn't understand things like that. She is in the 12-18 months range in some comprehension things. All of my friends with 2 y/o can have conversations with them, but my baby can't say more than 5 words.......Bye Bye, Nana, Momma, Dada, Night Night. She tries to say alot of things but b/c of her cleft palate it comes out really nasaly. I want her off of it but with surgery coming up she might need it. What should I do.

I have a 6th month old baby girl. I have been home with her since day one. Finaces dont allow me to stay home permantly, so I return to work next week.

I have hired a nanny to take care of her until January ( she will come to work with me after December) I have complete confidence my choice of nanny....so please limit comments to helping me brainstorm-not horror stories of nannies gone bad

I need help gathering info that my nanny will need to know about my daughter. So far I have a list of foods she eats, her normal routine, likes, dislikes, what to do in case of emergency, and It seems like a nanny would need to know more....

Any suggestions on how to better equip our new nanny?

My almost 2 year old is already getting an attitude to me and her dad. We have tried eveything ( spanking, time out, talking, showing and then talking, and every combo you can think of ) but nothing is getting better! She tells me no and tell her dad also she throws a fit and has started to through her self back in public and get on the floor and I have no clue what to do !!!! I do belive in spanking and I do belive in time out but I do not think it is ok to tell her to not hit then spank her for something right after!! so how do I nip this in the butt now before she gets worse!!

Ps me and daddy are tog.

My daughter is almost 3 and she is a very picky eater. The only way I can get her to eat peaches is if I give her the Gerber graduates diced peaches. I would never let anyone see that she still eats that but I really don't see anything wrong with it because at least I am not giving her junk. What do ya'll think about it?

We have a four year old daughter, she is very smart and VERY stubborn. She gets in "moods" for days where she is nasty and has absolute tantrums over everything. She also can go for days without a problem, sweet and compliant. When she refuses to do as she is told, yelling at me and my husband, telling US what to do, we put her in time out or put her in her room with the door closed and no tv. She immediately goes from tyrant to crying and pleading for mommy or daddy, asking to snuggle, wanting a hug and a kiss. Could she really be deliberately manipulating us? How can we regain control? We are getting desprate. I want my sweet girl all of the time. I realize kids have bad days but PLEEEEEASE! She completely freaks out when she doesnt get her way half the time. And when she is like this it is impossible to get her to do anything. She knows how to clean up after herself but when she doesnt want to, hell would freeze over before she will do as she is told. Help, please.

Today my 2 yr old daughter has started stuttering totally out of the blue. I've never noticed her doing it before but today she's been doing it a lot especially when she's saying "going". Has anyone else had a child who does this? As it's just started I'm thinking maybe she's trying to say too many words at once? She's saying 6+ word sentences and speaks really well apart from this. Any ideas / advice?

My son is fully potty trained except he still wears a pull up at night. It's very wet in morning. This has been going on for several months. I have been waiting for the pull up to be less wet or dry in the morning. Isn't that correct? I ask him to go to the potty before bed, but he says he doesn't have to. I think he waits til I put on the pull up. Any suggestions? He has some milk while we read before bed. Should I stop the milk? It's a comfort thing for him I think. Help! He will be 4 soon. Thanks.

My son and I were in a department store yesterday buying him his first pair of "big boy underwear". He is only 3, but he walked straight up to the plaid boxers and declared he wanted them. I have a very shaky feeling about it, since I was planning on starting him out in briefs and then converting in a few years. I did end up buying them, but I'm still unsure. What is your opinion?

I gave my niece 2 hotdogs and two biscuits for lunch. Then about half an hour later she decided she was hungry again. She had told me that she was going to watch TV, and I decided I could check on her every 15 minutes or so. Well, I was in my room and I noticed that the house smelled like smoke, so I went to the kitchen and found out she had put another biscuit in the microwave. How should I handle this kind of situation? I've already talked to her about it, but I want to make sure she understands. Any help provided is greatly appreciated.

My daughter has My Little Pony galore (castle, island etc), Barbie and accessories Including the home, animals, coloring and crayons, leapfrog toys; She'll doodle and get creative and do puzzles but that's it. Once she's done, she'll lounge on the couch all day and say there is nothing to do!

She's in Gymnastics and School (only three days a week tho b/c of our wacky education system) and she's driving me nuts!!! I would of been thrilled to of gotten half these toys she has when I was younger.

My daughter just walked up to me and bit me right on the shoulder. It was an hour ago and it's still stinging & left little teeth marks. I know she's teething and her gums are hurting, but is that normal for kids to start the biting thing at only a year old? And is it normal for it to hurt me this bad? lol She's got some sharp teeth.

She hasn't gone #2 in 2 days. I would oviously cut the suppository down to a smaller size. She won't drink juices or anything other than milk or water, and she's in this phase where she hardly eats anything I give her, so having her eat or drink something that will get her to go #2 will not work.

My middle daughter will be 5 on the 12 of Dec. and we struggle every year to keep her birthday separate from Christmas. I'm looking for an unusual idea to do something special for her this year, not too expensive either. We would like to do something outside of our home.

I'm looking to buy a Graco double stroller, the one where one seat is behind the other. I have an infant and a 38 lb. preschooler. The weight limit on the seat is 40 lbs.

Has anyone used a stroller like this with a 40 - 45 lb child? I don't need it for more than 6 months, but I want to know if it will even work for my 38 lb. child.

Does anyone have any recomendations? I need a double stroller that I can clip the infant seat into (for the baby's safety). Also, I need one that I can find cheap and second hand. The Graco double strollers are available at thrift shops and in the want ads.

Thanks for your advice/experience!
