hi there, my daughter just turned 4 yrs old in Sept. She has been toilet trained (day and night) for years now.. well for having a wee anyway. She will NOT poo on the potty/toilet.

She will only poo in a nappy - we've tried allsorts - taking the nappies away and just making it so she HAS to poo on the toilet, but she just made herself ill and would not leave the sofa and complained of a sore bum etc etc.

We've tried reward charts, bribery lol and now its nearly Xmas we're gonna do a letter as if its from Santa asking her to poo on the toilet etc for a special present.

i've tried singing to her on the toilet, reading her a book to help her relax - she's just not having any of it. I dont want to put too much pressure on her as i know i may escalate the problem further. She is at nursery and i thought she may have one at nursery if she saw the other kids doing it - but so far no progress.

Help!! I'm due another baby in april and dont want to be changing 2 lots of nappies!

He just turned one and wakes up at like 9:30am and will take two naps during the day; one at about 11:30am and then one at like 4:30. But he is staying up until like 10:30-11:00 at night. Is this normal? My husband cant stand it!

She only wants to eat certain things, I make her a lunch of things she normally eats but she won't eat it and only wants to eat yogurt or oatmeal at every meal. My husband says if she doesn't eat her lunch or dinner that I shouldn't give her anything else so that she will learn to eat what she is given but she has always been a thin child and when she hasn't eaten anything since breakfast I just want her to eat something even if it's just oatmeal, yogurt or fruit. I would like some advice or tips from other parents who have had similar situations. Help!!

Hello,
my daughter of 4 still uses her pacifier on a daily basis. Following the advice of my mom and aunt I decided to operate the hole method: 2 days ago I punctured the end of the pacifier with a needle to remove the stimulating effect of the sucking. After a few minutes of irritation my daughter still keeps the pacifier in her mouth each day. What was my mistake? Who can contribute successful experiences with the hole method? Will the child eventually give up the damaged pacifier after a few days of her own accord?
Greetings from germany !

My son was diagnosed with a condition that only circumcision would alleviate a month ago. Monday the 29th he was operated, then observed for an hour and sent home bandage up. We were told to leave it as is for 48 hrs then remove the bandage and keep clean. Thursday morning my wife removed the bandage without any problems. he did not urinate al day but he was obviously moving his legs like he wanted to go. Thats when I discovered his penis was very raw and still bloody I sat him on the toilet, reverse cowboy, he cried that he could not "go pp" and he began to bleed a few drops. The blood forming around his penis was thick like a mocous membrane. He finally peed after about 20 minutes. his penis is very disturbing to me, bloody, raw, and what looks like a blood clot under the head of his penis. I will be contacting his doctor today and I hope he will see him. He does'nt want us near his penis much less to wipe it or clean it. The little red bloody ball under the head has me scared.

My 22 month old son can finish a cup of rice only when he is busy doing other things. ie watching tv, playing with his toys etc. I'm worried that this is not a proper way. When he is bored, it's so hard to feed him. : (

Hello

A few weeks ago through my family, I met a women who has moved interstate. He daughter is 2 (same age as my son), so I have befriended her to get her into the community, help her meet other people etc.

When her daughter was about 1, she got a circle burn on her forehead from a hand blender without the bottom on it, that the child stuck to her forehead. Since then she has a red/pink burn mark that just wont go away. I would like to know if anyone can suggest something that I could buy or make that would help heal this 2yr olds scar, that is a year or so old?

Thanks so much for your time.

Today I was walking with my 4 year old. He pointed out this woman and said "look at that fancy mommy." I said "why is she fancy?" and Noah said "She has her hair and nails done, and she dresses pretty. She's fancy! Why can't you be fancy too? I like that kinda mommy better." I was CRUSHED!! Even though I said "well, some mommies are a little more plain. I don't need make-up to be pretty, right?" I swear I almost started crying. I had to bite my lip all the way home. I didn't think it was possible to be stung so bad by a child! Has your toddler or small child ever said anything to you that really got to you as well? What was it?

Comical really, not a serious problem... but it is hillarious - he is not supposed to grab cords or get into the dog food and water bowls, but every day about 10-20 times he goes right up to it and does it anyway. When we say no in a very firm and kind of loud voice, he starts SCREAMING, yet we are loud at other times and he doesn't start screaming. What's going on in his little head?

I live in Ohio and am on Ohio Medicaid (Amerigroup) for my 4 yr old. I was told by his pediatrician to call the office towards the end of October to schedule a flu shot. When I called two weeks ago- I was told the shots for 'kids on state insurance' were gone. Apparently the state only sends out a few for these kids. So I asked what else I could do, and they said to call the health department. I did that and was told they don't get shots for kids until the end of November! My boy has serious breathing problems and needs a shot. I hear they are so plentiful this year and yet I can't find one for my son- even when I try to pay out of pocket! Other dr's offices say he has to be a patient there already to get one this year. I am so frustrated I don't know what the do. Anyone else having this problem, or do you have any suggestions?

My 2 year old was playing with bubbles this morning. After rubbing her eyes, she broke out with little welps or hives around her eyes, then her sclera became inflamed. She has many food allergies, so I am used to her having reactions every now and again. But the bubble thing is new to me, as is the swollen sclera! It was scary. I gave her some bendryl and she is better. Then I thought about how I noticed she gets very sneezy around freshly laundered clothes, bedding, even though I use Baby All. Could she be allergic to this too? Does anybody have experience with this type of allergy. I will call my allergist for a check up, but in the meantime I wondered if anyone had any knowledge or experience with this.
Thanks

I've heard the stuff about not giving OTC medicines to children under six, but what about prescription meds? My son was given a prescription for allergies and it seems to be the only thing that helps him.

They all know my son and us. tried to get him down for a nap and he cries sometimes. He is 19 months old, he throws the usual fits. should I worry how should I handle this woman?

Do they dig in and eat it all at once or did they just eat a few pieces last night? My son only ate 1 piece last night while trick or treating but he fell asleep on the way home. He only ate 2 pieces this morning. I used to put a real dent in mine on the 1st day but I guess he isn't much of a candy person.

He hits himself or scratches himself when he gets mad or frustrated. I don't know why he does this or how to stop it. We are not a violent home. I have spanked him before but it was never a main form of punishment, really only a handful of times. I don't do it anymore since before he even started hitting himself. His punishments are time-outs. He is a very good boy but gets frustrated very easily, me too. With God's help I am trying to calm down, I am just high stress and learning new techniques through prayer. We really have a loving home though. I don't know what to do about this and I fear for the future with him continuing to do this. Any suggestions?
