My 2 year old was playing with bubbles this morning. After rubbing her eyes, she broke out with little welps or hives around her eyes, then her sclera became inflamed. She has many food allergies, so I am used to her having reactions every now and again. But the bubble thing is new to me, as is the swollen sclera! It was scary. I gave her some bendryl and she is better. Then I thought about how I noticed she gets very sneezy around freshly laundered clothes, bedding, even though I use Baby All. Could she be allergic to this too? Does anybody have experience with this type of allergy. I will call my allergist for a check up, but in the meantime I wondered if anyone had any knowledge or experience with this.
Thanks

It's not totally uncommon that a child, even one who is not exactly allergic, could have red eyes or pinkish welt-type things around the eyes if something gets in them that isn't supposed to be there.

But considering your daughters' allergies to food, and her reaction to the laundry, my guess is she's either allergic to the perfume or dyes that can be used in soaps and detergents.

Even if you use a baby detergent, that doesn't mean it's completely 100% hypoallergenic. You may need to contact your doctor and see if he or she suggests a good detergent for you to try using. My brother-in-law had this problem, and my mother-in-law ended up having to buy some kind of high-end hypoallergenic detergent.

My daughter is allergic to bubbles also. Watch out cause she can get a yeast infection from that. That happened to my daughter as well. Stay away from bubbles baths- i use the body wash as bubble bath. Get fragrance free detergant.

My son has those kinds of problems too. Anything with fragrance or dyes in it sets him off. He gets hives, and his skin gets scaly feeling bits all over it. For him I just ALL Free and Clear, it has no perfumes or dyes. I believe Baby All still has fragrance, you may want to switch. Also, check bubbles for dyes or perfumes. If you can't find any without them, you can always mix your own with basic household dish soap/hand soap and water.

sounds like she is allergic. wash her clothes twice once with detergent and once without as this gets more of the soap out. do not use fabric sheets you can use fabric softener in the first wash but not the second.
My child was allergic to detergent and this is what I had to do for her.
