You should be fine to give her both, just check on Tixylix box that it doesnt say it contains iboprufen. But as far as i remember it doesnt!! If the chesty cough is keeping her awake at night try Medised its available from the pharmacy without prescription, it has paracetemol to lower temp and pain, and antihistimine to stop her nose dripping down the back of her throat (which is the cause of most night time coughs) also as a added bonus it makes them drowsy so gives them and you a good night sleep which in my opinon is the 'best medicine' also try putting a wet towel on her radiator, central heating dry's the air at this time of year so making the air moist helps alot. Good luck and i hope she's better soon x

Never give a child under 3 any drugs unless prescribed by a doctor. Cough medicine is an abomination and should be outlawed. I know guys/mums that are hooked on it. Teething probably irritates you, but don't fall into the trap of giving your child drugs just to make your life easier. I kow too many parents who just pump their kids full lof "Night Nurse", "Collis Brown" and other nasties. Blow a bit of marijuahna smoke in their face and everyone looks at you in horror. Tell me about TixLix. Chesty Cough Medicine!

Because of the recent problems with cough and cold medicines, I wouldn't recommend giving these types of medications, much less mixing medications. Absolutely consult with your pediatrician, but my daughter (18 months) recently had a slightly productive cough, and I bought a humidifier and it left within a few days. Although your child's cough sounds more serious, I would still seek some other type of remedy.

Always ask the pharmacist before mixing medicines in children. I'm not sure if calprofen is ok in the age bracket of your child, you'd have to make sure on the instructions first.
But if her cough is that nasty, maybe a doctor should have a listen to her chest to rule out an infection, cos tixylix won't shift an infection.

Check the ingredients on both medicines, if both medicines contain any paracatemol, iboprofen & other pain relievers please do not mix them. She probably has the cough due to her teething, most children get colds, runny noses or ear aches when they are teething & usually a childrens pain relief such as Calprofen is enough to relieve the symptoms.

I would take her to the Doctor being that it is a cold and she is teething. Sometimes the cough medication acts as a decongestant. An with teething this can be a problem.

My daughter recently had a cough and I thought it was just from the excessive drool from teething. I ended up taking her to the doctor and she had an ear infection (no symptoms but the cough). I suggest you take her to the doctor.

Yes I would, with the chesty cough medicine my doctor told me that they really don't work (but you might be lucky) calprofen will be fine though.

really no-one unless a doctor should advise on this one - i would go see the doc and get professional advice - i would certainly steer clear of mixing meds unless advised properly - by the way tixylix worked for our son with his cough when he was a babe - maybe the cough mixture on its own would be enough anyway to make your daughter more comfortable - but i do believe that prof. advice is essential good luck to you hope your daughter gets better soon

Go to the pediatrician. Recently there have been some warnings by the FDA about children's cough and/or cold medicine. They are actually determintal to the child's health.
I'm sure the pediatrician will know what to give your one-year-old. I hope she's okay!
