My son will be 3 on Nov 19 and he weighs only 29 pounds. I offer him 3 balenced meals plus a ton of mid day snacks each day. I give him very diluted juice (90% water) and milk. He HATES meat except for chicken nuggets. He won't eat a vegatable to save his life but thankfully he likes fruit. His favorites are pb&j,chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, waffles, cereal, mac and cheese and sometimes I can get him to eat pizza. The doctor says that if I offer him 3 solid meals a day not to worry, he won't let himself starve. I would like it if 2T pants would fit him around the wast and stop being too big. What can I do??

My son has recently started flapping one of his hands. Not all the time, just on and off. He has good eye contact, points at objects, brings me toys to play with him, and seems fine otherwise. He has also lately stopped wanting to look at the camera when I want to take a picture of him. He only has one or two clear words, but babbles alot. Anything to worry about? I just worry about him regressing.

I'm keeping a friends baby while she's at work. I've kept her before, but the first 2 times she was gr8. The last few times I have kept her tho, she pretty much just whines and screams the whole time. She'll stop for a min. but then she starts right back. It doesn't matter what I do to try & calm her. Nothing works for long. She won't take a nap, she won't eat, her diaper is dry, she throws anything I give her 2 drink or play with, she follows me around wanting me 2 pick her up & when I do, she'll stop crying for a little bit but she eventually starts back & when I put her down she screams like I'm murdering her. I can't carry her around all day bc I have 3 children myself that I have 2 care 4. They try 2 play w/her & she wants nothing 2 do w/them. Giving her a bath doesn't work or taking her outside. She doesn't have a fever or caugh or runny nose so if she's sick it's got 2 b a stomach ache or an ear infection or...sumthing else I cant c, but giving her meds doesnt help either.

I know that running a business takes up all your time. At least that's what I've heard. Anyway, I want to start a daycare centre (first at home and then expand and get licence). I absolutely love kids and I love teaching them things and seeing them laugh. I know kids can be hard, trust me, I have my own! But I am looking into this opportunity because I feel like I can create a really super healthy and educational daycare centre. I know I can. I'm just worried that I won't have time for anything else.

What do you think?
Any tips you have for starting out would be really appreciated.
I'm gonna read all the response so please do respond! :)

My 4yr old son was thrilled 2 weeks ago when he got to pick out his really cool turtle costume, but then daddy said he should be Bob The Builder and now ever since he has wanted to be Bob The Builder. I deperately looked all over for a Bob The Builder costume and they were all sold out. Now my son says he doesn't wanna go and i'm not sure if i should force him into it or just let him stay home. There are lots of things we don't like until we try them and this isn't his first Halloween either but he has never really liked Halloween ever. Would it be wrong of me to push him into going even though he doesn't like it and hope that with time he will like the idea?
It's all because last week my husband told him he should be Bob The Builder and thats all he thinks about and now my little guy doesn't like the turtle costume and doesn't want to go, what should i do?

We attend a learning hospital, so sometimes they do a lot of "extra", unnecessary things. His appointment was on Monday and they gave him 5 shots (Hep A, Varicella, Prevnar, MMR & flu), since we now have to go back in 30 days for the flu booster, we decided to wait on getting the blood drawn (that's a lot of needles poking my little guy in one day!) when we go back for the booster, after researching it a bit.

Doctor said they draw blood on all 12M olds to check counts and lead levels. Is this something new? I've never heard of such a thing.

He wouldn't always put her in. There were times when he would say she was causing problems and by placing her in the cage, she would learn her lesson. This is the only time I ever saw it happen...has anyone else heard of this form of punishment? also, is it normal?

I have a 5 year old brother that has constantly showed signs of having autism. He was reading before he was 2, and speaks spanish quite well. He also does simple mathmatics. Yet he doesn't like to hang out with children his own age. He does fine with my older brother and I, and other teens, but his whole preschool class seems to not exist to him. I know that this isn't nearly enough information, yet I wanted to know if you thought that autism could come from the immunizations shots giving during infacncy? Please give me any information possible.

My daughter who is very challenging only wants a computer or an Apple Ipod for Christmas and says she will not be happy with anything else. I told her to be prepared to not get either but whenever it comes up she gets a major attitide. I've told her she should be thankful for any gift she receives and that some kids aren't lucky enough to get anything for Christmas but it doesn't make a dent. I think we should not get either gift for her because she is being so bratty about it but is that going to teach her anything? If we do that than she needs to really understand why she is not getting either gift. What is the best way to do that? Any advice?

An acquaintance of mine had her son here the other day- same age as my daughter (they're both 4). The boy asked my daughter what she was being for Halloween and she said a fairy. She asked him and he said "A pirate." She asked him if he was a pirate like on Spongebob Squarepants and he said "No, I'm the type of pirate that has a wh*re on every port waiting to swab me deck."

I couldn't believe he said that & his mother just laughed. She didn't even try to correct his language and then, she was on the phone with her husband and had her son REPEAT what he said to his dad and they laughed some more. After they left, I had to explain to my children that wh*re wasn't a nice word..

Am I just a prude or what?

My 13 month old loves music so I download a lot of kids songs to keep him dancing all day but I'm running out of entertainers I know.

I know of Judy and David, the Wiggles. I also have lots of Fred Penner, Barney and Sharon Lois and Bram.

He doesn't really seem to like the mass music by groups of children singing the wheels on the bus and such, he seems to mostly like grown-ups singing silly songs.

Who are some other entertainers out there I can download for him?

he was been walking now for 4 months now but I have noticed lately that he is falling more than normal.. I have talked to his doctor about this and he checked him out and he seemed to be ok.. The doctor told me to give him another month and see how much he falls
My question is how many of your children would fall more than normal and did they grow out of it ?
Thanks

My son is 1 (15 months) and he wakes up throughout the night crying and asking for his cup, so I keep it readily accessbile by the bedside. I really want to try to stop him from waking up in the middle of the night looking for it, mainly because I'm scared of his teeth decaying as a result of drinking from the sippie cup before bed every night. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I already have a hard time getting him to eat in general. He wants to do everything himself and I am afraid he gets bored with finger foods. Will not try any gerber graduate food and still loves his bottle. Milk or water, he never took to a pacifier so he uses this as comfort I think?

For Christmas this year we are taking a road trip to visit my husband's family. They live 20 hours away. We have a 7 year old boy, 5 and 3 year old girls and a baby who will be 6 months old at the time of the trip. Does anyone have any suggestion or had a similar experience on keeping all these kids from driving us crazy as we drive cross country? Any tips on things to pack, games to play, stops to make etc. Is there one or more things that you wish you would have packed? Thanks in advance for the help!
