No, I don't think its scary for most kids. We do not celebrate it though. We celebrate the begining for fall with fall festival. The children still dress up but not as anything scary or to do with the devil. I let the children know that Halloween celebrated the devil and death and we are to celebrate life and Jesus.

I think the reason that Halloween is a bit less scary than say... watching a horror movie... is because even my 3 year old understands that everyone is in costumes except for the grown ups (in most cases, LOL). And if confronted with someone with a scary mask, take the time to ask them to take it off! Or if it's facepaint, say to your child "Look at his silly facepaint!". I don't think we should be running our 2-5 yr olds through scary haunted houses.. but trick or treating is usually geared for young ones. I don't remember ever really being scared around Halloween... except when my brother would jump out with his mask, lol... Happy Halloween everyone!

I think that there are of course some things that are scary for them, but my daughter tells us if it's something she's scared of or doesn't like, or she expresses it somehow. But I don't think Halloween is too scary at all. We have gone trick or treating the past 3 years and some of the people who really get into it announce there is a little one coming and they don't do all the scary stuff they do for the older kids. So I think in a way everyone respects everyones small children and save the scary stuff for the older ones.

I'd have said no untill last week. My 5 year old went to a Halloween party at Rainbows (younger version of girl guides). She came home and before bed she said Monsters and ghosts arent real mum are they? I said no. She went to sleep and 10 mins later she was screaming the house down, shed had a nightmare. They had been telling scary stories at rainbows!

No.

this is where people need to use their heads. If they have young children, then obviously they will not be showing movies like the exoricist or taking them to the towns most scariest haunted house. Small children go door to door and get free candy, go to a pumpkin patch, ride a hayride, they carve funny faces in pumpkins, they help mom decorate their house, so if you people find that too scary for small children then I just dont know what to tell you.

For the person who says it's about worshiping evil, that's a load of crap. The practice of wearing costumes is to scare away anything that's evil, not to welcome it. It was a way to avoid evil, not ask it come closer...brush up on your history.

It's scary for those who want it to be. For little kids, they love getting candy and dressing up and spending time with friends. Nothing wrong with that!

Yes. Why do young children have to be confronted with death and beheaded ghosts?
