He wouldn't always put her in. There were times when he would say she was causing problems and by placing her in the cage, she would learn her lesson. This is the only time I ever saw it happen...has anyone else heard of this form of punishment? also, is it normal?

Um yeah...I don't really know what is more disturbing. The fact that your grandfather did this, the fact that your granfather's wife allowed it, or that you think it could even possibly be normal. Of course this isn't normal. I'm sorry that you have these kinds of things going on in your family. I honestly thought my family was about as screwed up as possible but if any male in my family even thought about something like this they would get a frying pan in their face. And I hope you are not thinking of using this type of punishment on your child or something considering you posted this in the "Toddler & Prechooler" section. That would be even worse than doing it to an adult because at least an adult can choose to leave. A child is innocent and knows no better.

has your grandfather but put in a mental assylum! That is totally wrong, i have never heard of this ever happening before and reading it mad me sad angry and completly shocked. Have you asked why he did it or talked to his second wife ( if you can ). This is totally not normal she is not an animal and women do not deserve to be treated in that manner. I hope you don' think it is normal.

There are a lot of people that are into that sort of thing. It's to bad that you had to see it though. If it isn't some sort of roll play they do together then it's totally weird!!!!
