I hate it when parents find things like this funny. There is no reason for it and the child is going to think that it is alright all the time. :( It's just no good.

You're not a prude. I'm sorry, but your acquaintance isn't exactly winning mother of the year here, especially considering that when her son repeats those words in school, not knowing what they mean OR that they're bad, he's going to be confused and frustrated when he's sent to the principal's office or detention. It should NEVER be funny to a parent when their child is using detestable language. It may be funny to others, but it's common decency for a parent to try and encourage their children to speak properly.

no you aren't a prude. I am 19 and have 2 little girls and if either one said that word they would have the "it's not appropriate" talk and would be sent to the corner if it happened again. I really dislike when parents find these things funny. What happens when the kid goes to school and calls the teacher a Wh0re? He will get expelled and the parents will have nobody to blame but themselves. So no you are acting accordingly to good parenting. Good luckxxx

A FOUR year old said that?
There is no way a 4 year old would come up with that on their own. Someone has TOLD the kid to say it..probably the parents by the sound of it.
I am apalled :o(
How would any child have a chance in life, being taught such absolute trash.

I would had did exactly what you did if my two and half year old heard the same word. I really don't think parents see how much of an influence they are on their children. God gives us our kids as precious gifts and it is up to us to nurture, care, and teach them right from wrong. I see a lot of parents that do the same thing this mom did. It is really sad. I am happy that there are more mommys like you out there, eager to teach their children right. Don't feel bad, hon, you did the right thing in my book!!

You're not being prude. You're setting a great example for your children. However, not all parents are great role models.
I hate to break this to you, but children know a lot more swear words than you think. They hear them from their peers in school. I remember saying them with my friends when we were in school, but I knew not to say them at home when parents/adults were around.

OMG -- No that isn't funny and where did he get that from to begin with. He had to of heard that type of comment from his parents -- I would guess.
And to think that she had him repeat it to her husband!
You are definitely NOT a prude.
I don't know exactly what your relationship is with her, but if it were me, I would confront her and tell her that her son's behavior wasn't acceptable in your home.

They will not think that it is so funny when he calls her or his grandmothers that name when he gets older. Then his dad will try and hit him or something. I think that you should tell her how you feel that way they know that you do not want that type of behavior around your child.

Must have learned it from his parents. Nice talk. They will be in for a rude awakening when he gets older.
To answer your question..... I think it is unacceptable language and filthy.
