Everything I bought could be eaten by any child eating solids. I didn't get any chocolate. I got mini oreos, teddy grahams and mini pretzels. BTW, these are all wrapped. They came in bags just like the other candies. They were harder to find, but I feel better handing them out.

The grocery store and WalMart sells pre wrapped packages of grahm crackers. Each pkg is sealed and has about 10 animal crackers in them. I give those along with a safety pop to kids under 4. Older kids get the regular goody bag treats

on a normal basis, i do not. the year that Kid A was born i did. partly because i had a new baby, but also because i noticed that there were quite a few new babies in the neighborhood.

as the kids (mine and the neighborhood) get older, i try to keep up with what they can/would like to have as far as treats. there's always inevitably a few that are left out because of age or dietary restrictions, but without having some sort of trick-or-treat RSVP i don't really see any way around it.

I don't really get any trick-or-treaters where I live but when I was growing up my mom always had toys for babies (teethers, rattles, etc) and toys for toddlers (cars, dolls, just small cheap toys). She didn't spend more than $1-2 dollars per item.

Most baby or toddler trick or treaters are just going to "give" their candy to their parents. ;) So if you wanted to actually benefit the baby, you could.

I would say it is a good idea, but honestly if parents are taking their babies trick or treating they are planning on eating most of the candy themselves, babies cant eat very much candy

I wouldn't do that just because parents might be suspicious of poisoning. I remember on year a lady gave out fortune cookies and my mom wouldn't let me have it because it wasn't a traditional Halloween snack and could obviously have been tampered with.

I will now that you gave me the idea! Gerber sells these little individually wrapped fruit snacks (kind of like Fruit Roll Ups but healthier). I'll give out those.

Just regular wrap candies. With all the scares with "unwrapped" treats (poisoning children, food allergies, etc) I stay away from unusual.

No. Usually the mom, dad or other sibs eat it anyways! Give them a few coins to put in their piggy bank. That is what I always do.
