I think there should always be supervision so that a potty training child is not wiping themselves. However, I did find the best help to give my children more independence in the bathroom. What worked for potty training my daughter and my son is The Potty Stool http://www.thepottystool.com I started by just setting it at the toilet. My kids immediately climbed up on the stool and discovered that they could safely and securely use the toilet. This got them very interested in using the toilet and they were potty trained very quickly. Kids like to use what they know mommy and daddy use. And it really is wonderful having your kids independently use the toilet on their own. The handles make all the difference --both felt comfortable and were relaxed enough to have easy bowel movements.
I like that I don't have to double the steps of potty training by training them first in a potty and then training them to stop using a potty. And not dumping and cleaning a potty each time is great. The best thing is that kids use it for years. I hope this helps you

No there is no way a 3 year old will be able to wipe their bum properly. Concentrate on potty training and leave the bum wiping until he starts full time school.

I think you should teach him the whole process and how to do it right from the beginning; however, be there to assist him when needed. The only reason I say this is so that the whole thing is practice time and time again and eventually it gets easier and done correctly. But don't be too hard on him. Kids move at their own pace. If potty time becomes stressful, they may regress and not want to do it anymore.

Well congratulations you're baby is doing great!! I think teaching him all at once is the best thing to do especially since he's already started wiping himself, you don't want to stop him and revert backwards just let him wipe himself and then you finish it off for him. At this age we have to be in there with them to assist give him a month then he'll be doing it on his own.

first of all, I thoroughly be attentive to the kind you sense..my daughter did no longer get potty knowledgeable until eventually she became 3 a million/2! i found out which you would be able to no longer push them into, because of the fact then it only makes them back music and not % to do it in any respect. Be a splash extra affected person with him, yet you could surely attempt some issues like in common terms having him placed on undies vs. diapers and make him a minimum of take a seat on the lavatory as quickly as each hour, and make certain you do it each hour. you additionally can attempt getting between the little potty's and have him take a seat on it for hours at a time, watching his fav video clips. My lady pal reported that this labored for her daughter and she or he on no account wore diapers back. She used the potty like a chair, and every time her daughter tried to stand up or regardless of, it felt extraordinary to her so she would only take a seat backtrack and at last she pee'd contained in the potty and have been given excited! you additionally can attempt putting cheerios contained in the lavatory and helping him study a thank you to objective for the hollow's...i've got heard this one is often form of exciting! yet one ingredient for constructive...you will desire to reward him whilst he does pass and are not getting mad whilst he has an accident....yet only provide it some extra time, he gets there. solid luck! :o)

I would have to agree with you. Leave the wiping up to the adults and soon the children will WANT to wipe to feel like a big kid. That's exactly what my daughter did. Even though she can wipe I still go back and make sure she gets everything.

Most of the problems in my experience come from parents making too big an isssue out of the whole thing. Praise and rewards when he gets it right. Show him where the used tissue goes. Check he's as clean as poss if he isn't doing a good job, sure, but he'll soon be wanting to do it all himself without Mum or Dad. Kids take pride in being "a big boy/girl now". Let them have their moments of triumph.
