I'd hire you in two circumstances:
First, if I had work to do around the house but needed my son out of the way for a while. (In fact, I searched for someone like this while we were moving this summer, but came up empty handed.)
Second, if I were going to be in the immediate neighborhood - having lunch down the street, maybe, or running to the store a few blocks away.
11 is young. I'd be reluctant to leave you with my son after dark. While our neighborhood is reasonably safe, we're in a big urban area and I've learned to expect the unexpected. Still, there have been plenty of times I needed childcare just to fill in the gaps, and age is less of a barrier then.
If you advertise yourself as more of a "parent's helper" than a babysitter, you might have an easier time of it. In fact, it also strikes me that if I had a newborn at home, I might hire some extra help to amuse my son during those first few crazy months.
Good luck!

I do not have kids, but I do have this to say you are in your mothers account and this would immediately bring a red flag for any mother. Second of all, since you are not eightteen which is a more appropriate age for babysitting, someone who can be responsible for any event that can be prone to happen in a situation of house burning accident, children injury any such thing that even a redcross certified may panic in these sittuations. But don't worry strange women would not do such thing but you can help a much older teen in babysitting and can get a percentage by helping and learning from her. There are some baby sitting companies that asking to volunteer with one of their students would not be a harming question to ask.

Ages 10-12 I would watch this ladies kid who was 2/3...but she was there the whole time. More or less I entertained her kid while she cleaned, napped, etc. I think something like that would be fine but as far as babysitting...I think you are a little to young. Good Luck! Edt: I would let you watch my child at 14 if my child was over the age of 2 and I would pay someone that age $5-$6 an hour

as the mother of two responsible kids 12 and 14. I'm sorry you may be very responsible but no you should not be babysitting any kids enjoy being a child yourself.do they not have a law in your state to be able to even be at home by yourself much less babysit. I'm in NC and here you have to be 14 just to be left alone.so how are you babysitting with the assistance of your parents. my 14 year old can just now be left home and I'm scared to do that.
good luck though with all that.lol

If my kids were 4 years old or older - Yes. Since my daughter is only 2 1/2, I wouldn't feel comfortable yet. Also, my sister used to babysit a little girl when she was 10 but it was our neighbor and she would come to our house. My mom was right there in case my sister needed her.

No, I would not. You are still too young and lack life experience. If an emergency happened, I am not so sure you would be able to handle it. Also, is it legal for an 11 year old to baby-sit? Probably not. I would want someone older to watch my children.

I let my eleven year old daughter babysit my younger kids. As long as the sitter is responsible and knows how to handle the various situations that arise while sitting it doesn't really matter how old the sitter is.

Legally you are able to babysit children and administer CPR if absolutely necessary. I would definitely let you babysit my kids, but I would have to know you personally.

Technically you're not allowed to stay home alone for long periods of time until you're 12, let alone watch other kids.
BUT, here in Canada we have 10 year olds watching 5 year olds so really, it all depends who you're sitting for.
Good luck. =]
