I just watch this video from our local Houston station about harmful toys for young kids. Around the middle it shows a toddler play with toys in I think a hospital waiting room all dressed up for no real reason other than to look really cute. It now has me wanting to dress my son up. Do you ever dress your kids up like this? Do you think people would think I wierd if I do.

Our daughter has just turned 1 year old two weeks ago. At her one year doctor appt we were told it was time to switch her from formula to whole milk. The pediatrician suggested using up the last of the formula we had in stock and then introducing the milk to her then.

Problem is, we've just run out of the formula and she doesn't seem to care for the milk. Is this normal? When will she start to take the milk? I'm worried she's going to start missing out on the nutrients she's supposed to be getting from the milk.

My daughter turned 2 about 2 weeks agoand we have a 2 week old as well. We have been "playing potty" though for about 6 months prior, mainly due to ill-advised, but well-meaning friends and family, and the fact that mommy couldn't bend over for very well for diaper changes....ANYWAY We started with pullups which has achieved very little results. There was a couple weeks that it "seemed" she was very interested and would go potty 2-3 times a day. Then she just stopped and started using the pullup just like a diaper. So we let it drop for a while, not wanting to push it b/c she wasn't even 2 yet. We have tried using big girl panties, with the rubber pants over them, and she doesn't seem to respond to them either. What HAS been working for the last couple days, is letting her run without anything, she has told us almost every time she has to go...the problem is though, she can't exactly go out in public that way.If we put her back in pullups for the trip it's certain she'll go in them.

off and on for about 3 weeks. She mainly coughs at night (dry and hacking); it is short spells and never wakes her up. She also coughs some during the day (more "wet"). She has no other symptoms at all, and this cough doesn't bother her at all. I know I'll get the "call the doc" comments so I'll tell you now, she goes in a week for her next appt. and I will definitely check with the doc. Just wondered if anyone else had experience with this? By the way, it started about the same time we turned on our heat (forced air), wondering if this could be the culprit? Thanks for your insights!!!

I've been noticing that he deliberately tries to tick me off and pull a big fuss at meal time. He's a picky eater and will not eat something if he doesn't like it. He overwhelms himself to the point where he makes himself sick..any ideas?

I had major surgery 6 months ago and was unable to walk or work. Her father took her into his custody while I recovered. He also was informed of all her doctor notices that came to my home. I was in and out of the hospital during this time. I am now fully recovered and starting a new job next week. Come to find out she hasn't had her 12 or 15 month shots. I called her doctor and I cant get an appointment until the next 2 weeks during work hours. I am located in Chicago and was wondering if anyone knows if I can go to a clinic and get her shots she is missing instead of waiting on her doctor and being unable to put her in daycare?

My son has swollen lymph nodes. They've been swollen for a couple of weeks. They aren't painful and he's had no other signs of sickness. I was concerned about his almond sized, hard lymph nodes and called the doctor. They didn't seem all that concerned and told me to watch him for a few days. There was no change so we took him into the doc and he did a rapid strep and it was negative and told me to just watch for signs of tenderness or sickness. I got a call this morning from his doctor who comfirmed he has strep! How is this possible? I had strep as a kid and it was horrible. I could barely swallow and had a fever. Anyone experienced this?

My son is 18 months old. And before any of you tell me that it is too soon to teach him how to read let me just say that he already knows and recognizes all of his ABC's, numbers 1-10, and all of his colors. He already has a vocabulary of over 100 words, probably near 150. That being said I'm pretty sure that he is somewhat advanced for his age. All I need is some pointers because want to start teaching him small words (cat, dog, etc...) but I really have no idea of how to go about it. Is there anything that you parents did that helped your child learn how to read? I know he might not catch on right away, but I can go ahead and start trying. We do school everyday anyway. Thanks in advance and serious answers only please.

My wife and I are attempting to potty train our 2 1/2 year old girl. So far, not a lot of success, but we haven't been at it very long. We've decided we need to quit "winging it" and find some kid of program to follow. Can anyone suggest a book or other type of potty training program that could give us some guidence?

its a slight lightening of a small patch on her cheek. i always heard that children get that from vitamin deficiency..but she loves her veggies she eats large amounts of green beans, broccoli, carrots...basically has a really good balanced diet. i dont understand what the marks could be.

Since my 22 month old started walking a few month ago, I put up baby gates all around the house, on the stairs, by rooms I didn't want her in and a big one around the fireplaces. But lately she's been climbing over them! I want her to be safe, but she keeps on climbing over them!

He will pee before his bath or when he sees his brother pee, but I do not know how to start with him. Is standing to pee better for boys? I heard it takes longer when boys pee sitting (which my husband cannot believe mothers do this to their boys).
