Our daughter has just turned 1 year old two weeks ago. At her one year doctor appt we were told it was time to switch her from formula to whole milk. The pediatrician suggested using up the last of the formula we had in stock and then introducing the milk to her then.

Problem is, we've just run out of the formula and she doesn't seem to care for the milk. Is this normal? When will she start to take the milk? I'm worried she's going to start missing out on the nutrients she's supposed to be getting from the milk.

The transistion to whole milk should be done slowly. Your pediatrician didn't give you very good advice. Start by putting whole milk in the cereal in the morning. You can also start adding a little bit of milk to the bottles at a time. If she would usually have an 8 oz bottle-use 7 oz of formula and 1 oz of milk. Do it slowly and she will get use to it without even realizing that anything was changed. Don't expect her to do it all at once. Almost everything with a baby is a process. Good luck - it will work

she shouldnt miss out on any nutrients because her solids will be replacing it so really she will be fine. If i were you i would buy a small can of formula and start mixing it half and half. My daughter literally woke up one morning at about 8 months old and did not want her formula, and i didnt know what was wrong. She wouldn't drink it at all, mind you she wasnt a big milk drinker to begin with so i started to panic because i didnt think she was getting enough even drinking the formula that she did, and than she just stopped and did not want it at all so it was easy for me because she rathered the homo milk. Your the mother though do what you think is right, being on formula a little longer wont hurt her so take your time switching she will let you know when she is ready.

Try mixing milk in with the formula a little at a time. Keep diluting it with milk a little more each time until finally she's completely off the formula.

My daughter had a hard time drinking milk too. Give your daughter yogurt and cheese to make sure she is getting the nutrients she needs. Try instant milk (I think it's called MilkMan) or soy milk too. Eventually my daughter liked regular milk.

Don't worry she will get plenty of nutrients from the food you give her. Some people never give there children cows milk. You canalso try soy milk.

My boys tried cows milk at 1yo and they hated it. I bought them a toddlers formula (S26 Gold Toddler Formula) and they loved it. They are now 2yo and only just starting to drink a little of cows milk.
They have cows milk in their cereal, mashed potatoes, and other things, but just don't like drinking it straight.

what i did with my son ..is we had one can of formula left..and i would use normal milk for his ceral..so that he started getting used to it..meanwhile just giving him the formula to drink..but normal milk in everything else..once the formula finished i gave him milk to drink ..and he just took it...i didnt have any problems with it.

but you may also want to take it slowly because i've heard some kids get reactions from it.

I basically initiating giving my daughter total milk one morning and endured by the day to ensure how she could deal with it and he or she did high quality. Ive heard countless parents would start up it off sluggish yet my daughter didnt look to have a mission with it. Its no longer risky to modify it thoroughly rapidly.
