It depends on how advanced your son is. I have got my 21 month old a sand pit and toys to dig and make sand animals with (molds) as he is very much an outdoor boy. What ever you get as long as it makes enough noise to drive you insane or it has pieces that you dread to step on in the dark, he will think it is the best. Good luck

I bought my son a lot of the little people stuff when he was one including the little people bus, train set and the ramps around garage which were all fantastic value. He loved them and is STILL playing with them and hes now 3 and a half. Definitely buy these things for your baby. He will love them

Definitely blocks! My 11 year old still occasionally plays with blocks we bought when his brother was little. Another great thing for boys are those big metal Tonka trucks (dump trucks, loaders, etc.) that he can play in the dirt with. A tricycle is a classic, if he doesn't already have one, and books are always great. Have fun!

Big bright colors are best. remember small parts come off and go into the mouth. Also blocks or very large legos are some teaching toys

A set of wooden blocks. He will play with them for years and they are great for his little mind in that he can express his creativity. You might have to go online and buy them as they only have the cheaply made ones in most stores.

my nephew who is now almost 3 had play food and the shopping cart and all he did was throw the food around and then never played with it.

these are the toys we bought him when he turned two that he still plays with.
