I am trying to think of a fun project for the toddlers at church. I am blank. Can anyone give me some ideas? Are there any Thanksgiving songs?

Last week at playgroup, we made turkeys by tracing the children's hands & using eyes, feathers and beaks. The turkeys were so cute:)

The song-- 10 turkeys on a fence!

Crafts- Get some brown, orange, yellow, and red constuction paper.

1. Cut a medium sized circle out of the brown paper.

2. Cut some oval-shaped pieces out from the red, yellow and orange paper, glue them to the back of the brown circle. (kind of like feathers).

3. Cut a tiny red ovalish shape to be the well, ( you know, the thing that hangs from his neck.

4. Cut an orange beak out and glue it to the head, or the top of the brown circle.

5. Buy some of those plastic eyes, the ones that are very small and have a sticky side, that would be really cute!

Tah-dah, you have a turkey!

Good luck with those kids and have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

The Turkey sat on the barnyard fence,
And he sang this sad, sad, tune,
Thanksgiving Day is coming!
Gobble Gobble Gobble Gobble
And I know I'll Be Eaten Soon!

Gobble Gobble Gobble Gobble,
I would like to Run Away!
Gobble Gobble Gobble Gobble,
I don't like Thanksgiving Day!

(Or you could change the last line to "Have a great Thanksgiving Day!)

Funny Turkey poem

The turkey is a funny bird
Its head goes bobble-bobble;

And all he knows is just one word...
And that is GOBBLE-GOBBLE!

To the tune of "Frere Jacque"

Mr. Turkey, Mr. Turkey
Run away, Run away
If you don't be careful
You will be a mouthful
Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving Day

I make a turkey with my daycare kids every year. You need pine cones, fake feathers *you can buy them in the crafts stores* orange pipecleaners, and a piece of card board or small wooden cut out circle or something sturdy. Have the kids stick the feathers in the pine cone...I usually hot glue it. Have the pipecleaners folded *bend them in half and bend it in and out three times to make the feet.* Have them stick them in. Use a small piece of pipecleaner for the peak and glue it to something sturdy. They are really cute when they are done! Good luck!
