You could turn it into a game - when i was little i chewed my nails and my mum managed to wean me off it by saying, for example, I'm only allowed to chew the fingers on my left hand and i got little rewards for not chewing my right hand. Slowly it went down to one finger then not at all.

Hi Friend,

You seem to have a nail biting problem on your hand !. Just giving the problem a lighter side friend. From what I feel, and with my experience as a Parent myself, there are many reasons for this. I will try to list the ones that I know, but do take advise of a physician as well, not to worry, by the time you try out what I suggest, you will have conquered the problem.Hope this helps

1. Child may have Calcium deficiency, so either consult your doctor, or watch if he also eats Chalk or plaster from the Painted walls, these are certain hints. You could even start him on a harmless Calcium Sandoz one tablet a day (very sweet and juicy, and I'm sure he will love it so much he will forget his fingers!)
2. Is he nervous or are there any family problems, such as infighting etc, which sometimes bears down on a child very strongly and gets him thinking.....(excuse me if I sound blunt, but I am here as a friend to help)...take him into confidence, and give him more of your time, , love and passion. Try this out without fail...Play small games such as clapping one anothers hands, and playing some song /nursery games, which will automatically take his attention off his hands.
3. If the child has a fear of something or is frightened he may buckle up and keep to him self, so take him out into the fresh air, into parks, where there is lot of greenery, and play with him, keep him occupied and he will be happy.

Of course I have given my own views as I would to my own child so take care, Love him, and do extend my own Love and Regards to him with lots of Love.

I'm sure if you start immediately, you will find results outstanding. Do feel free to mail to me freely.

Love and Regards, God Bless!

I don't know how well it would work, but it's an idea. My dog used to bite and chew his feet. My dad would put liquid dish soap on his feet. It helped break the habit.

I don't know if this would work on a little boy. He could end up becoming DAWN JUNKIE!

If you don't want to go that way, dripping lemon juice or garlic on his nails may help.

I wish you the best of luck on this.
