My son and I were in a department store yesterday buying him his first pair of "big boy underwear". He is only 3, but he walked straight up to the plaid boxers and declared he wanted them. I have a very shaky feeling about it, since I was planning on starting him out in briefs and then converting in a few years. I did end up buying them, but I'm still unsure. What is your opinion?

i know how you feel i wanted my son to wear briefs first but since he is only 2 he doesn't really have an opinion so i picked underwear with the characters he likes like spider man and Diego ones. Aren't boxers too big for him? if they are small enough for him then they shouldn't be a problem

If he wants to wear them he must really like them, let him try them and see how they feel, if he feels uncomfortable in them, there is always boxer briefs , my son wears them, and loves them. But if they work for him and he doesn't feel uncomfortable then it shouldn't be a problem. Let him have fun lol

i don't think it's a problem...better boxers than a pull-up. if he's comfortable, let it be. you could try the boxer-briefs. they are tighter like briefs but are longer down the leg like boxers... my 4 year old loves them. check out fruit of the loom or hanes

My sons pedatrician told me briefs were better for my kids. So i would go with briefs. Your the parent, you decide.

Let him wear what he wants. It really doesn't matter when it gets down to it and it'll probably encourage him more because those are the undies he picked out!

let him try them! he picked them out, so he thinks hes a big boy now. it may in a way help him not have an accident in them if he likes them so much.
give it a shot! good luck
