**Charlie....um.. why so angry? LOL if you read the question it actually says nothing about me NOT allowing my kids to watch the show! Infact, i am a very liberal parent!! I was actually just wanting to see how many other parents allow their kids to watch the show, or similar shows.... some of the stuff does shock me but not enough to TAKE their tv away (def not their eyes)!! I think your a bit too dramatic, and way to angry! So REEELAX!!!
Besides, you are allow to parent your kids as you please... so am I... and so is the parents who DON"T allow their kids to watch any tv.

No. In fact children under 2 should not watch TV. It is overstimulating and can be bad for their development.

No offence, but why wouldn't I let the boys watch it??
They get drunk on ice cream for Christ sakes. I see a heck of a lot worse on Television for toddlers. It is an awesome show!
If you are that worried about Spongebob I suggest you throw your television out!! They see 100% worse walking down the street.
Honey, I also suggest no nursery rhymes, you know they are about death (could be shattering to a child's development) no newspapers (you never know what you could read in them), and I just heard that their is a special on white padding, you so should put it around your house. Maybe getting your children's eyes removed would be an idea too!
Sounds a bit extreme, doesn't it?? Yeah well you should really consider how people like you and a few of the recent comments sound. It is a freaken kids show.
I am so sick of things being banned because stupid people cannot handle the way of living. Damn even Santa has been banned from saying HO HO HO!! What a joke!!!!!
EDIT- I am angry!! They banned Santa Claus from saying HO HO HO, because some stupid kids parents complained it was scarring their child. All bloody kids are scared of Santa at some stage!
I'm not so pissed at you as I was at some of these answers. Sorry if it comes across that way, but seriously the show was designed for kids and kids love it. I can't believe people won't let their pre-teens watch it. That is really sad.
I bet the same mums banned my Santa! They want to ban a different thing every week. Most of the things have been around for longer than you or I!!
I just cannot see how SpongeBob is so bad. Yes he is a tad lame, but I would so rather my kids watching him instead of Barney the stupid dinosaur.
Actually recently some stupid mother campaigned against this really cool ad for a 4wd. A toddler and his toddler girlfriend were driving it. Apparently that it teaches 2yo how to drive. Right.
These parents start off with small stupid things then campaign to have nearly everything removed, like Santa, like the ad, like nursery rhymes, like SpongeBob, like 4wd in school areas and don't consider how stupid they really are. It is a joke. Yes my answer may be a little fair fetched, but honestly I think that it ridiculous to stop half the things I have mentioned.

My 4 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous gets to visual show unit video clips/television exhibits particularly circumstances as a potty education reward (for #2) and that i permit my infant watch together with her except its nap or bedtime. we are going to additionally particularly circumstances watch extra if we are ill, yet it is approximately it.

No, and as weird as this is now a days, we do not own a T.V.
I just feel there is nothing on T.V worth wasting precious time over. The morality is certainly lacking also.
As far as Spongebob for toddlers, I don't think it is appropriate.
There are many things about it that are not good for kids...period.
Just be careful what you put your children in front of, a lot of time they are just plopped down and the parent has no idea what is being relayed to that child.

I let my 4 year old twins watch Sponge Bob. From what I can tell he is a very sweet sponge that has a strong work ethic... although he is a bit dumb. He is harmless and I don't find him offensive in the least.
I have more of a problem with Ben 10--- he has a smart mouth and bad attitude at times.

I don't even allow my pre-teens to watch "Sponge Bob", so I definately wouldn't be allowing a toddler watch it. You are the parent. If you are uncomfortable, say "NO" and make it stick. A lot of the modern cartoons are really adult programming wrapped in a cartoon format, they are NOT children's shows! I don't let my pre-teens watch a lot of the stuff they claim all their friends are watching. Simply put: my house, my rules. If I don't think it's a children's program, the children aren't watching it. I've had to block the channels, hide the remote, and even ended up removing the TV from the living room/family room for a short-time to prove my point. I wasn't the most popular mommy, but I don't have a herd of kids running around acting like Bart Simpson either. ;)

Guilty. My 6, 4 and 3 year old LOVE Spongebob. I'm not fond of all the "stupid" and "dumb" language being thrown around, but other than that all the other humor goes right over their heads.

My son LOVES Spongebob. All he really pays attention to is the theme song anyway. After that, he only glances at the tv once or twice. They have a Spongebob cd out that I bought and we listen to it and dance around. It's so fun and he's getting his Spongebob fix without watching too much tv.
