My boyfriend of almost a year has a 4 year old little girl. ive been living with them for almost 6 months now. her mother sees her on the weekends. the little girl does not listen. she is very defiant. ive tried getting down on her level and talking to her, asking HER what the punishment will be if she doesnt listen. its only worked once. so we have tried taking things away. tried time out, and nothing seems to work. she just says no, or doesnt care that we take her tv away, or toys, or priviliges away. we dont believe in spankings, what can we do!?

I have an 18 month old daughter who has a 103 temp, and every now and then she will kinda jerk, its kinda like a twitch and a shake, my bf and his mom said it sounds like she is having convulsions from having a high temp, i calld her pediatrician and he said they usually don't worry about temps till they are 106 degrees and to make sure she is drinking a lot and to keep giving her tylenol to help bing down the temp, i told him about the twitching and he didnt say anything...Anyone know what it is and what I can do for my daughter?? I also have an 8 day old son and don't want him catching what she has.

She was vomiting up everything she was eating. If she had more than 2 oz of milk or water at a time, she got sick. Could it be a stomach virus?

My son has no problem going pee pee or poop on the potty if we put him on there, but he does not tell us when he has to go or if he already has gone. I'm starting to 2nd guess myself on the way we started this. He started out on a portable potty chair but then I decided why teach him twice so now the seat is on the toilet. Was that a bad idea? Also, should we be teaching him to stand to go pee pee or are we right with having him sit down to pee until he actually tells us when he has to go.......suggestions?

My 4yr old daughter has been potty trained since 2 1/2 yrs old. She can wipe herself, except when she doodys. I try to tell her that once she starts school next yr, she'll have to do it herself. My husband says I should let her, but I don't want her ruining her underclothes & smelling bad. I've tried those Breck flushable wipes for kids, but she won't use them. What's the best way to get her to do it & teach her the best way? BTW, I've taught her the importance of hand washing, so she knows how to do that.

My son just turned 5 in February. He is a sweet and loving little guy. But he is very hyper and rudely interrupts people when they are talking. He also does not listen very well, if he is told to clean up his room or toys from the living room he refuses, telling me "No I am not going to do it". He is always wild and his attention span seems short at times. I am freaking out and thinking that he may have ADD/ADHD. He has many of the signs. But then again he is five, so I am hoping that he outgrows this phase. No he has not been to preschool, but will be starting Kindergarten in the fall. I wanted to stay home with him and not pay to have others pretty much raise him for me. I am wondering if he may change once he gets into school, and is in a more structured environment. I do preschool work with him during the week. Any other parents had this problem when their son was this age, and if so did they grow out of it. I do not want to fill him full of chemicals. Any help please please???

I've seen several instances on Y! where parents refer to their child as being 20 months old or even 27 months old. What gives?

At what point did you drop the "months" and start saying, he's a year and a half or, she's a little over 2? At what point SHOULD parents drop the months?

Okay, so yeah, it's possible they could get hurt. It's also possible that my daughter could get hurt doing gymnastics; or my kids could drown at the pool; or we could get hit by lightening.

What the heck?!?! People need to chill out!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE jumping on beds. I have done it a few times with my kids! It is envigorating! Does that make me a bad parent?
