Your nephew sounds like he only asked because his daddy and uncle make a big deal of it and think it will be cool. Getting a piercing is a big deal and shouldn't be taken lightly, you should stop for a min. and think about why your sister doesn't want her sons ear pierced. This is really something for his parents to talk about and decide and there is nothing wrong with waiting until he is alittle older, can understand it, and can help in the decision making process (like 10 or 11).
Best of luck.

The child even asked for it? What does a three year old know about getting his ear pierced? Your brother in law has no business being a parent and regretably, your sister must have gotten all the brains between you three.

Your sister is a smart woman. If you give the kid an earring now, he may want a tattoo by the time he is seven. Wait - give him something to look forward too. She is going to have to clean that thing every time it is infected, listen to him scream when it hurts and bargain with him to take it out when it is in bad shape. Plus she will have to change the earring - and I know how hard that can be on a squirming child. Unless she is willing to make a deal that her hubby does ALL the leg work on this idea.

You don't convince her. Unless this is some cultural thing, a three-year-old boy doesn't need his ear pierced.

"The child even asked for it"

Yeah, a lot of kids ask for things they don't need, and at 3 do you really think he knows what getting his ear pierced is and what it entails? I don't think so...

Listen to your sister, she's the mommy for a reason.

Your sister is right, piercing is for girls,he would look ugly the poor kid,he doesnt know anything about it!!So he can't do the right choice.
Convince your brother in law not to pierce the child's ear

You probably won't be able to convince her. He's only three and she's the mom. It's not fair to try to push her to do something to her child that she doesn't feel comfortable doing. There's some good reasons not to pierce his ear, with the number one being that he's too young to take care of the piercing himself and could get infected.

I think considering he is a boy and piercing is just not as popular with guys as it use to be The father should wait till the child is much older and actually knows what he is asking for. Three is much to young.

If your sister said no, I wouldn't go against her wishes. But
maybe take her to whoever you were going to get to
pierce the child's ear and show her that everything is
clean and let that person tell her how long they have
been piercing (maybe that will change her mind).

Sorry but a three year old boy should not have his ear pierced. He may think that he wants it but....other kids that come from more conservative families may make a big thing of it and make fun of him.Sad to say but children can be very cruel to one another. Some kids might call him a sissy and worst. He can always get it done when he is a little older.
