Okay, so yeah, it's possible they could get hurt. It's also possible that my daughter could get hurt doing gymnastics; or my kids could drown at the pool; or we could get hit by lightening.
What the heck?!?! People need to chill out!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE jumping on beds. I have done it a few times with my kids! It is envigorating! Does that make me a bad parent?

I would also like to say that there are rules for jumping on the bed. They are ALWAYS supervised, and there are always pillows, blankets etc. around the bed for cushioning.....

And in addition, this is probably one of the ONLY times I allow my kids the outlet to "disrespect" their property. Their rooms are always clean, they are well-behaved at ALL times. I get compliments daily from strangers on their manners, etc. They are great kids!

Jump Away! We do...it allows for energy release, fun and it can even be beneficial to spacial awareness and cognitive development ! - oh yes, by having your kids jump, twist, turn and fall, they are developing better sences of balance and body awareness...so when they are older or try new things, they wont be as afraid to fall, hang upside down or other topsy-turvy things.

I don't know how old you are, I'm 31. When I was little we did jump on the bed, out of trees, etc... kids will get hurt and they will also remember why. Obviously we have to monitor and be cautious, but jumping on the bed is just a bit of fun isn't it?
Of course that doesn't make you a bad parent. I'm sure joining them in the fun makes you a fun parent. And you are there to supervise!

When I was a kid around 4 I was in gymnastics. K anyways. U are not a bad parent. You're just letting ur kids have fun. It sounds like u still have a lil kid in u to jump on the bed with your kids. Man my grannie always told me I would break my neck doing sumthin like that. But I learned when I was 14 and sledding down a hill an finally broke my neck. THANK THE LORD I CAN STILL WALK!

Personally loved jumping on beds when I was a kid!
Looking at answers like the one comparing playing with knives to jumping on the bed, and wonder if their kids (if they have them) are ever let out of the protective bag.
I jumped and beds, I crossed streets, I'm alive because my parents taught me to do it right and be safe about it.. There is no way you can protect your kids from everything, and you will sure take a lot of fun out of life if you try. I think it is much more important to teach them how to be safe while they have fun.
No wonder the kids of today are so overweight and have so many medical problems if their parents want to "protect" then in that maner.

I think it makes you a fun mom. My parents came to visit me about a year ago and watched me jump on the bed with my 2 year old and thought it was hilarious. I think it was fun. And my son knows not to do it when I'm not around, and he never has. He's only done it that one time with me. It's fun, it's good exercise and if the kids are supervised very closely, then jump on!

LOL! NO! and anyone who says yes needs to lighten up... big time! Kids could get hurt doing their homework by getting a paper cut or something! If you worry about piddly little stuff like that, you'll drive yourself CRAZY!! I say keep doing what you're doing. You are creating a special bond with your kids that is much more important than having rule after rule after rule. Your kids will remember jumping on the bed with you and look back on it one day and just smile!

A childhood isnt a childhood without jumping on beds, swinging on gates, making mud pies, taking bites out of the cake while Mum isnt looking, climbing trees etc.
My kids love jumping on my bed, I put music on and they bounce/dance, they put little routines together and do them for me. We also use their mattress and bed bases to make cubby houses and we have great fun.
Its much better for them than being on the computer or watching TV or playing video games.
For me its really important that my kids get to do all kid stuff I did as a child, so they learn to use their imaginations and just have fun and enjoy being children.

wow the people who say its bad really shouldnt come to my house...especially when my husbands home, he usually initiates the bed jumping along with all the other crazy behavior that other people say my kids shouldnt be doing lol. usualy at least once a day everyone in the family but me (someone has to be the mature one lol) is crawling on all fours barking. my kids are well adjusted......very active and have great imaginations, we are a military family so we have to stay close knit and having fun together is part of that.

You sound like a very loving and conscientious parent. You take time out to have fun with your kids, maybe the rest of us should take lessons. The only suggestion I have is that maybe a mini trampoline would be better. You could use it indoors and it would save you the hassle of having to remake the beds. Plus your mattresses wouldn't wear out as fast.

Heck, I think it's a great idea!! Kids don't get to BE kids anymore, everything is too structured. Add some pillow fights and I think you'll raise better adjusted kids than we've seen in a long time!
