Ok here's the deal... my wonderful 2 year old has a temper ... when we say no he SCREAMS like we are hurting him... and keeps screaming until we either give in or leave the situation. I don't know what to do... tonight we were at the library and he wanted to "play" on the computer but we said no your not aloud. and he just started screaming and wouldn't stop. my husband finally took him out to the car and calmed him down. we can't go anywhere with him without him "wanting " something and not being able to have it and then having a FIT. any idea's?????

i read in a book that babies under 2 years of age should NOT watch t.v. at all ( I read this after my mother in law had already let the baby watch a good bit of t.v. when the baby was like 5 months old ) Since then, we haven't let her watch any t.v., until a couple of days ago when her nana wanted to watch t.v. while holding the baby (what's a dad to do? I don't wanna argue with my wife's mom!)
Anyway, we discovered that when the baby's too fussy and it's time for a nap, SOMETIMES we just sit in front of the t.v. and put on "Blues Clues" or something like that. In 5- 10 min. she'll be out like a light. This is just an "emergency" tactic and we don't always need to do it.
Is this TOO bad?
Thanks!

My 2 1/2 year old son vomits for no apparent reason. He has no fever and is usually playing with his toys when it happens. After he vomits he goes back to playing and wants something to eat. Any ideas why?

I have a 22 month old daughter who loves Dora. I didn't allow her to watch T.V until was over a year old and now she sits in front of the T.V and waits for us to put Dora on. She will watch T.V unitl I turn it off. I've heard all the studys on children & T.V and am trying to be very careful BUT how much T.V is too much? She watches about an hour to two hours a day and not all at once.

She is only 13 months old, but everything she is asked not to do, she'll say "no" and throw some kind of fit! I do not spoil her, but it would look as if I did by the way she acts. I have been ignoring her tantrums, I mean, not paying attention to her when they happen, but the no thing... Should I ignor her when she says it? Will she say it more if I ask her not to say it? What will the point be though, when she hears us telling her "no"? Am I asking way to much out of a one year old?

My daughter is three, and has been fully trained since she was a little over two. Pooping has always been a problem since day one of potty training. For the longest time she would only poop in a pullup, not in the toilet. She finally has stopped asking for pullups when she has to poop, and will sit on a potty seat, but she FREAKS out whenever she has to poop. She will carry on for days, every time she feels the sensation, crying, saying "poops are coming!" and freaking out. She'll hold it as long as humanly possible. She will eventually go in the potty, but its such a painful process. She has held it so long in the past that she ended up constipated and gave herself a fissure, which of course created a whole new set of nuerosis about it. Has anyone else gone through this, and any tips out there how to make her relax? Thanks so much!

I have a 18 month old and have tried to potty train him. He plays with the potty as if it were a toy. He will not sit still for no more that a few seconds. He understands anything that I say to him. He likes to flush the toilet at home and knows what a toilet is. People say that my husband should take him into the bathroom and show him. The problem is that my husband leaves early for work and by the time he gets home our son is asleep. I want to be able to potty train him, but it's fustrating because he has such a short attention span when it comes to sitting on the potty. He refuses to sit on the potty, where I would have to sit him on the potty and he then jumps up. I would like to start at the begining in terms of knowing what the first thing that I should do. I would have to take this step by step. Thank you. Andrea

I have 9 month old child and Iam quite worried about his day care. Sometimes in the evening after bringing him home, he looks very aggressive to be held and wants all my attention the whole time. He wont play by himself, and wants to be lifted and pampered all the time. He is still not crawling, but sits without support. Only rarely does he sit by himself after rolling over. Just recently we had been to a birthday party and when he looked at the ballon's he started crying out a lot because of fear. He had never gone out to any parties or seen him play with ballon's. Could this be because some kids at the day care frightened my son by bursting the ballon close to his ear. It made me very very nervous and i was very worried about my son. When I asked day care they say nothing of that sort happened, they keep big kids away from infants. But somehow I feel that day care is not caring for my son very well. When I ask the day care people on when do they play with my child and do they sing, t

Alright, i work at a daycare that provides free potty training if the parents agree to work with them at home and bring in pull ups. Well we have this one little girl and her twin brother and their about 2 now. Their mother has decide to potty train them already. And this little girl and boy just arent "catching on" to anything we do(like talking for example). they aren't metally challenged or anything, they just are more intrested in toys and such. well, my boss wanted to tell the mother that they weren't ready yet but shes afriad that saying that might insult them. Do you think they are to young or not ready? and if so-how are we supposed to tell the mother(shes very set in her ways and shes got high hopes for them-she plans on sending them to an early preschool next year and the girls are sweet but space-y)

thanks.

Anyone else with a 5 year old dealing with this? My son is 5 1/2, and he has a great group of friends, but sometimes when they come over for playdates he is so rude to them! If they don't do what he wants to do, he'll blurt out "You're not my friend anymore!" and other hurtful remarks. He also never wants to go over his friend's houses, he only wants them to come to our house. He also can be moody at times at home, and seems to have low self esteem. He's constantly saying that he thinks I don't love him and that he's the "worst" at whatever activity we're doing, etc. I am a loving, calm mother, I swear, I don't know where this is comign from! I should add I have a 4 year old son also, who is mildly autistic, and a almost 3 year old daughter. Anyways, I try to reassure him all the time how much I love him and boost his ego, not sure if anyone else runs into this? thanks in advance for any advice/support!!

I am having knee surgery soon. In the meantime and of course after the operation I am pretty confined to sitting around with ice on my leg. My 8 year old grandaughter lives with me. What kind of activites are good-besides Board Games and the obvious, reading, etc., can we do together that don't require much physical activity? Thanks.
