Fevers usually don't need fever reducers (tylenol, ibuprofen) until they reach 102. A fever is the body's way of killing off an infection on it's own. It is not dangerous until it reaches above 102.
If your child feels fine, don't worry. Also, make sure you are not giving the tylenol too often. Read the back of the label to make sure how often it should be given. I think it's every 4-6 hours. You definetely don't want to overdose him!
Just keep a close eye on the fever. Call your doctor if things change.
Good luck.

If he's not uncomfortable, there's no need to supress the fever just for the sake of supressing the fever. If he's miserable, that's another story.

As long as you dress him lightweight and load him up on LOTS to drink, you don't even have to give Tylenol at this stage.

Fever is the body's friend - it's the first line of defense against a germ and sometimes all that's needed to get rid of it. Pain or other symptoms are secondary. You can let a low-grade (which this is) fever go for up to five full days with no other symptoms. If other symptoms appear, you treat based on what they are. If your child stops drinking and urinating, that warrants an immediate visit to the doctor. If he's not interested in food, or only wants certain foods, don't fight with him. Just be adamant that he MUST drink - even if you have to use an eyedropper to get it in there.

I hope he feels better!

sometimes its just a little bug and the tylenol can help it go away. doctors dont worry until its like 103 at that age which is crazy because parents worry long before that. you can alternate tylenol and ibuprofen if he needs it because they are different drugs (if he gets fussy after giving him one or still has a fever a couple hours later). the truth is most of the time its just a little virus their bodies are fighting off just like what happens to us when we get a cold or stuffy nose. we just dont take our temperatures much as adults. he may not be totally happy without the medicine but the doc. probably wouldnt do anything so i wouldnt take him there. if his fever is going up or he is cranky from not feeling well give him tylenol or ibuprofen but other than that a good nights sleep may be just the trick

You are doing the right thing. Something you want to do is watch his fever and make sure that it doesn't rise to quickly. When you give the tylenol and have to wait for eight hours, and you notice that the fever is not going down at the 4 hour mark give him a dose of motroin in bewteen the doses of tylenol. I do this for my daughter when she has a fever.

Yes...he is probbly teething. Most babies will run a slight fever when teething. You can go to the pharmacy at wal-mart and buy teething tablets. They are all natural no medication and will help soften the gums and releive the pain. Don't use orajel or anbesol because it causes the gums to become tuff and actually makes it worse. The teething tavlets are in the vitamin section in a pink and purple bottle....ask the pharmacist if you can't find them...they work miracles.

99-100 is not really that high of a temperature for a baby or toddler. he might be starting to teethe. just keep up the tylenol and take a peek at his mouth. usually the bottom two come in first. :)

NO
Don't treat until 101 degrees, or what your pediatrician recommends. He may be teething, or he may be fighting a bug. But the body gets a fever for a reason.....let the fever work before you load up on medications.

Stop with the Tylenol until his fever reaches 101-102. then call your pediatrician and administer Motrin
