If you're not happy with your doctor's opinions, take her to another who is more forthcoming with an explanation. The answers above mention many different causes, some can be serious, some not so much. But if you're not getting an answer that you are comfortable with, find a doctor who will be more communicative.
My grandson spits up large volumes of milk and now food. His pediatrician doesn't seem to think there's a problem, but my daughter is considering a second opinion (I wish she would), because he really seems to be suffering a reflux problem which could be helped. He's perfectly healthy, eating well, gaining weight and thriving, but don't wear good clothes anywhere near him!! :)

That is generally a circulation {blood flow} problem and you should take your baby to the er just to be safe. My daughter has a circulation problem but her feet dont turn purple. My friend some years back had a beautiful little girl that anytime she laughed her feet and hands would turn purple this was the only sign dr's had at the time and come to find out she had a problem with her heart. She's fine now dont mean to scare you though

My daughters hands, feet, and lips did the same things. They checked her heart and it was fine. They told me she had an immature nervous system, and when her body needed it, it would send all the blood and oxygen to the vital organs, leaving the limbs purple. Since she had no other problems and according to the doctors was "thriveing" they said not to worry about it. It is hard to know how far to push it, hers did not go away until she was around 5 and still does sometimes (she is 6) but not nearly as often and nothing else has showed up wrong (knock on wood). They said her nervous system would mature with age and she has not had any developmental problems or delays.

Circulation is one.....also babies skin on their feet is still pretty thin and the blood vessels are very close to the surface. This will make them apper purple faster if the blood is slowed down...usually you can just change the babies position or stand them up and this will go away.....like another answer said, I will bet if you ask you mom, they will say the same thing happened to you. I know my oldest son had this issue....he is about 2 1/2 now and he is fine and it don't happen anymore.....

My guess would be poor circulation. Ask for a referral to a cardiologist. Many girls have a defect in their hearts called Mitral Valve Prolapse. My daughter and I have it and her feet used to be purple no matter what. Now that she's older (4) it's better.

I would check with another doctor about a possible circulation issue. That's the only other reason I can figure out. Is it only her feet or do you notice it in her hands too?

My baby's feet used to do that; scared me to death. It finally just stopped on its own. The doctor told me the same thing. If you're really concerned though you should speak to another dr. Better to be safe.

Bad circulation??
Does she sit round much or is she quite active?
Maybe take her to a cranial osteopath - they are an alternative therapy but do work wonders. They can't do any harm so what do you have to loose by trying them?!
