I felt so bad about not giving my son a birthday party when he turned one, but at the time I couldn't afford it. I was ridicule about it from friends and family. I am totally going to make up for it when he turns two in August.

Our daughter is having boys and girls at the party and it is a "princess" theme at a gymnastics place. I don't mind having different gifts for the boys and girls. I just hate to give or get junk but want to keep it reasonable money-wise.

My mother in law is very very unsanitary. I have a huge problem with it, cuz I have a two year old running around here, and I dont want her to get sick from carlessness. I already had a heated argument about my mother in law cleaning a cat litter box over the kitchen sink and also pouring used cat water of our dirty dishes! Today, she took cake with her in the washroom, and prob ate it while on the toliet. Then when she opend the door she put it on the bathroom sink! then my 2yrd old wanted some of her cake. How do i tell her, to stop being like that without a huge fight, she always turns it out bad!
I think she should to her cat stuff in the washroom , then do her cake stuff in the kitchen! please give me advice!!!!!!

I work nights and need sleep during the day, and the only way to do that is if I were to put my little 3 year old in daycare 3 days a week so she wont be alone while I sleep. That averages 15 hours a week. She really seems to like it and benefits from it please help.

He has been doing it since he was about 8 months old. He takes his favorite blankie and twists it to a point and sucks on it to go to sleep. I hate this habit! That darn blanket stinks! I could wash it a million times and it still smells like spit! hahaha! Is this just a way to pacify himself? Should I be worried about his teeth? Will he grow out if it or will I have to take beloved blankie away?

I have two babysitting charges. One is a 4 year old, who is a girl, and the other is 2 years old and is a boy. They live just down my street, and they have met my dog often. They often ask to see my dog, and are very demanding. However, my dog is too big and strong for the two of them, and they often walk right into my house, despite what I say, so that I cannot tell them that my dog is not home.
I need to take their minds off of my dog and give them some fun and interesting activities to do. They have a series of toys, but they seem bored with them. Their mom enjoys it when I take them outside to play, but when we are outside they want to see my dog! What can I do to occupy them instead?

Our family is a divided family with 50% of the children's time going to their father and 50% with me. Our 5 year old Kindergarten daughter won't stop using her hands to communicate aggressively. What steps should I be taking to stop the hitting when I'm not sure what steps her father is taking. I'm sure he uses spanking as a discipline, but I'm looking for alternative options. Time outs work only ocassionaly, taking things away and grounding only work when she's with me. What else can I do?

My daughter is 2 and she really is a good kid. Recently though she has been whining alot. Even when she is just talking to me she seems to whine. I have got her to stop by saying that "We dont whine" and make her repeating what she said wihtout whining. She does. All I am wondering is what makes her do it? And when will she grow out of it?

Our daughter is 12. For the last four months she has been showing what I think is an unusual lack of modesty. For example, she occasionally comes downstairs dressed only in her undies, and last week she came into the kitchen wearing nothing but her underpants and socks. We also have two sons, ages 8 and 10. My oldest boy told me that once or twice she has come into their bedroom basically nude, saying she needed a towel. She does not seem to have any "shame" (wrong word, I know, but you get the idea) about any of us seeing her undressed.

She had a head-to-toe checkup at the doctor's a couple of months ago and he said she's doing fine. Her breasts are just beginning to develop and she's definitely not a little girl anymore.

Should we be concerned?

My daughter is very picky when it comes to food. She tends to take a liking to fast food (I hardly give it to her though) but I refuse to give it to her regularly....I tend to cook meals that the entire family can eat but she only seems interested in chicken..sometimes potatoes, but unfortunately no veggies...any suggestions?

I look after a little boy who was 3 in december, his speech is not amazing but he is a twin so it's taking a little longer as they have their own language, both boys have stammered a bit, eg....you you you you cooking dinner?? but one of them has started merging it so going youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu cooking dinner and he makes a strange face when he says it and its very loud!! I was wondering what your thoughts are as I know stutters and stammers are fairly common in young children but would like some feedback on maybe people who had experienced similar things.I have discussed it with his mum and told her i'd try and do a bit of research. Thank you for any help!!

My daughter was bitten by another girl in daycare. The bite did break the skin, and there is a bit of bruising of course. We of course cleaned and disinfected it. It seems to look clean and is not discoloured. Is it advisable to take her to a doctor to have it looked at? Being that it looks clean and does not seem to bother her at all, can I avoid the doctor and take her if it gets worse or if there are other symptoms? What symptoms would I look for that would need a doctor visit?

I have a 3 year old daughter who will be 4 in july and she isnt talking yet. She can say single words like mama, dada, nanny, papa, and a few other little words but she cant put words in sentences. She also has a speech problem when you tell het to say a certain word it comes out different. She also lines certain things up when she is on the floor. She also has a bad temper. If i dont get what she wants she starts stomping and throwing things. They havent figured out whats wrong with her yet but she goes to a developing doctor in a few weeks. Any parents out there with autistic child? Share your thoughts, opinions, story. Any advice would be good. Thanks.
