Hush, little baby.
Don't say a word.
Mama's going to buy you
a mocking bird.

And if that mocking bird won't sing,
Mama's going to buy you
a diamond ring.

This problem started over a year ago. Meals...are just difficult. "I don't like that" "I am not going to eat that" are common phrases at every meal. Supper time is the hardest. It not just veggies or meat, it is the whole meal. Even pizza or fun foods, are difficult at supper time. We have tried the following:
- letting her sit there for an hour
- serving it for breakfast or supper the next night
- competition...lets beat daddy
- reversing the action... Sam can't eat her chicken, no way
- ketchup, sour cream, ranch, caesar, plum sauce & cheese sauce
Some say she is just a stubborn child and just make the meal, serve it and when dinner is done take her plate away and just act like nothing has happen...Any ideas??? HELP! I am becoming very concern on her overall health.

I'm 19 years old and a single father. I have a daughter, Rina, who turned a year old in Feb. Rina has always been a VERY quiet baby and recently i started wondering if that's a bad thing. She never attepts to make any baby talk sounds or really any noise for that matter. While I'm at school, she spends the day at my parents, who only speak italian. When I'm home with her, i speak English to her. Can that have an effect? Any suggestions would be a great help. Thanks
Is her not making noise at this age normal? Has anyone gone through this situation?

(please save nasty comments for someone else. They do me know help what so ever)

My 3yr old son has gotten headlice from his 3 older brother and sisters who come and visit every other weekend. When I try and pick through his head, he just cries and asks why am I hurting him. I've tried to explain to him why it has to happen, but he doesn't understand and still thinks I'm just trying to hurt him.

How can I treat his headlice without him thinking I'm intentionally trying to hurt him?

I sometimes (quite often actually) get the frantic feeling that I am not documenting my son's life properly, or enough. I just all of a sudden worry that I dont have enough footage of him before he started walking, or writing down all those things that are "milestones"....he will be one year old in a few days... I can't shake the feeling. Anyone else ever feel this way?

Im only 18, I know I have a lot to learn, I see all these other mothers documenting every detail of their childs life, but I feel like I dont have the time to sit down and write all that out. I go to school full time and work part time, so every second I get with my son I dont want to waste it writing about him, I want to hug him and kiss him and play with him!!!!!!

*sigh*

She's 20 months, 18 months adjusted. She's only been on a sippie for 4 months now because she couldn't hold her bottle. I asked her physical therapist, and she will be evaluated by an occupational therapist for some other issues and this is the advice that she gave me.

Try a straw and hold the top to keep the liquid in to try to get her to lick and realize she has to position her lips around the straw to get anything out. Or those mini juice boxes (half the size of a normal juice box) and squirt a little into her mouth, while her lips are around the straw, to get the feel of how it works. Any other tips??

He will be 2 next week. He's a bit slow and not picking up on a lot of things other kids his age are. Hes not autistic but he has a speech and cognitive skills delay and will be seeing a therapist soon. He's had eye surgeries to clear up crossed eyes so we think that may be a big factor in his learning. He recently started smacking his diaper and laying down on the floor for us to change him. It's like he is telling us he is dirty. i was wondering if he is ready to be potty trained if he is able to let us know his diaper is dirty. If so, how can we go about teaching him? He doesn't seem to grasp the fact on how to use a spoon or fork or a toothbrush so I don't know how he will learn or even yet how to teach him. Any suggestion? Thanks.

I've never had this problem before flu season this year! I have a two-year-old and I babysit one other child during the day.

This year, it seems like myself and the children have been sick all winter. (Flu, cold, sinus infection, strep throat, gastrointestinal infection. No joke.)

I keep a very tidy house. We use anti-bacterial wipes on everything, buy lysol by the case it seems, wash my hands constantly.

Our diet is excellent, for the most part. Lot's of fresh fruits, veggies, raw nuts, whole grains, yougart products. We don't have any allergies to speak of.

I just can't figure out why we have all been SO sick this year. The doctor and pediatrician say it's just bad luck.

My 12 month old son will not leave the on/off button alone on the TV. He does understand no, if he is doing something else and I say 'no' he stops. It's not for attention because we could be happily playing and he will just get up and switch the TV off or on. I thought that the light on the button maybe attracting him, but he has now started switching it on! I say no, shout his name, move him away etc but he does not pay a blind bit of notice to me. Any ideas on how to stop this? (and please no answers that involve smacking, he is a baby, or any stupid answers) I am worried about him breaking it as TV's aren't cheap and I would rather spend money on him!

I have a 4 year old stepson. When he is at my house he comments on how he showers with both his mommy and stepdad at the same time and also that he sleeps with them. He also refuses to eat anything healthy because they are constantly eating at fast food restaurants. His mommy also allows him to go to bed with a sippy cup that he drinks out of like a bottle. He is also allowed to rub his head for comfort and it has gotten so rough that is grows in like this. Am I worrying to much or is this normal?

By bathtime I turn into Mean Mummy - I'm so tired and grumpy by the end of the day (I'm also breastfeeding 12 week old twins!). I find I have no patience and can be drawn into arguments with her, telling her she is being deliberately naughty, raising my voice, issuing orders, not handling her as gently as I should etc etc. Then I feel terribly guilty after she has gone to bed.... Deep breaths and counting to 10 don't seem to cut it. I want to be a loving mother throughout the day - how do I make it last until bedtime?

Hi everyone,

my little girl has started to say 'go away' and 'move' as well as other cheeky things!

She is nearly 2 years old and has picked upsome cheeky words from her cousin who is also 2.

When they are together she will copy everthing he says and after he leaves the house she will continue with the cheek.

I don't want to keep them apart because they play together and have good fun...... but what should I do/tell her when she is cheeky?!

Any suggestions!!!!

Thanx,

Sophia
